Csárdás (or Czardas) is the only famous composition of Vittorio Monti. A rhapsodical concert piece written in 1904, it is a well-known folk piece based on a Hungarian csárdás. It was originally composed for violin, mandolin or piano. The Requiem Mass in D minor (K. 626) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was composed in Vienna in 1791 and left unfinished at the composer's death on December 5. A completion dated 1792 by Franz Xaver Süssmayr was delivered to Count Franz von Walsegg, who had anonymously commissioned the piece for a Requiem Mass to commemorate the February 14 anniversary of his wife's death.

The Süssmayr completion of the Requiem is divided into fourteen movements, with the following structure:

I. Introitus
Requiem (choir and soprano solo) (D minor)
Kyrie, Bruno Walter, 1956.
II. Kyrie (choir) (D minor)
III. Sequentia (text based on sections of the Dies Irae)
Dies irae (choir) (D minor)
Tuba mirum (soprano, contralto, tenor and bass solo) (B-flat major)
Rex tremendae (choir) (G minor–D minor)
Recordare (soprano, contralto, tenor and bass solo) (F major)
Confutatis (choir) (A minor–F major, last chord V of D minor)
Lacrimosa (choir) (D minor)

Hostias (choir) (E-flat major–G minor)
V. Sanctus (choir) (D major)

My latest Christmas offering.  I have recorded Silent Night before, but I wanted to capture a definitive performance, so went to Audio Sorcery in Tunbridge Wells, where Paul Midcalf did a brilliant job.  It’s not too difficult a piece, but the three microphones that Paul used to record it pick up every tiny error, so it took six or seven attempts to get a version we were both happy with.  Here it is - merry early Christmas!

Vincenzo began his early musical training on acoustic and electric guitars, studying with a friend of his grandfather. He earned many honors as he studied in Australia, then was awarded an Italian Government scholarship. This led to a period of instruction under the celebrated Maestro Lucio Dosso at the Centro Romano Della Gitarra in Rome, a school established by the legendary Andrés Segovia.

Upon his return to Australia, Vincenzo was invited to premiere a new work by composer Phillip Houghton at the International Guitar Festival held in Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia. Present at the festival was world-renowned virtuoso guitarist John Williams. So impressed was Williams on hearing this performance that he requested permission from the composer to record it himself.

Vincenzo has performed with national and international acts and as the special guest of Welsh singing sensation Dame Shirley Bassey. Besides a busy touring and recording schedule, Vincenzo is highly sought after as a Headline Act in the Luxury Cruise Line industry and regularly performs on the world’s finest ships.

In recent years, Vincenzo has continued his study of guitar through the introduction of Spanish Flamenco and Nouveau Flamenco music. He has studied and performed with world-acclaimed Flamenco guitarist Robbie Varga and the Flamenco Dance Group “Luna Nueva.” He holds a Master’s Degree in music.
