Seasons are changing - energy is shifting. The next Frenzy release is here, presenting the next-best-local talent on the block: Levzon. This born-to-be gearhead from the outskirts of Amsterdam began experimenting with electronic music as a youngster. Immersing himself in a variety of genres throughout his early years, he decided to take the next step and provide an output for his vision on techno as ‘Levzon’. For our next Frenzy adventure, he is going all out for the first time, profiling his sound through a 4-track heavy-hitting EP with old-school-induced cuts and loopy basslines, including two remixes by like-minded associates. Imagine an era where speed has no limit and the night knows no dawn. That’s about the atmosphere ‘Mambata’ is creating at the start of the A-side. Followed by drum-led ‘Bang the Drums’, Levzon continues to ride the wave of heat, pressure, and movement. The adventure doesn’t end here yet: talent on the rise Phil Berg is providing a perfectly executed dubby remix of ‘Bang The Drums’.

To shape modern-day sound while paying homage to the old days. An ethos that has always been at the core of Frenzy as a community, event organizer, and record label. Through this second VA release, Frenzy seeks to extend its exploration of the ‘now’ and the ‘then’ with a double vinyl release with no less than 12 tracks representing their trademark sound. Buckle up - it’s time to step into the time machine of speed and light.

The vibey A-side starts with a bang by the dynamic Swiss/Italian duo Funk Assault (Chlär & Alarico) followed by uplifting, lighthearted productions by Amsterdam’s finest Undivulged and Lobster. On the B-side, local talent Levzon kicks it off with a playful melody-led groover, while Nicolas Vogler gets into the rhythmic drums and Ruiz OSC1 delivers an aquatic dub workout.

Heavyweight TWR72 introduces the C-side in full effect with a hypnotic, driving tension builder, followed by a wonky looped-out production by Hemka. Insolate is the perfect final addition to this side with a steady minimalist puncher for the in-between energy shifts. The D-side takes off at stellar speed with Cravo, raising the peak hour pressure. Jannik Abfalg channels the energy to more bright scenery as ANNĒ completes the record in style with a vocal-induced trip through early morning dancefloor freshness.

To go full circle, the release is accompanied by four digital-only bonus tracks by none other than Antic Soul, Edvvin, JSPRV35, and Hyden. Productions balance in-between stripped-down rhythms and heavy-duty rollers, showcasing what Frenzy is all about. The full digital album comes for free with the purchase of the vinyl release.

On the thirteenth solo release on his self-titled imprint, Berlin-based DJ/producer Amotik delivers another three tracks of the rolling, driving techno he’s been pushing for eight years. Leading the release, ‘Sattar’ brings pulsating bleeps and shimmering synths over a dark, pounding bass, while ‘Bahatar’ brings in punchy drums and soothing melodies, utilising lighter soundscapes and rumbling low-ends to guide us through this hypnotic workout. Closing out the release, ‘Tihatar’ combines shadowy stabs and dramatic synth lines that gradually build throughout the track for a tunnelling, late-night trip.

Releasing solo for years on his self-titled imprint, Amotik launched AMTK+ earlier this year to feature other artists via split EPs, releasing music by Deluka, Arthur Robert, Decka, and himself across the first two releases. With recent gigs at the likes of De School, E1, Tresor, and opening and closing sets at Berghain, Amotik has firmly cemented himself as a versatile and key player in modern Techno.

Amotik’s ‘Amotik 013’ drops on Vinyl on 30th June, followed by a digital release on 21st July 2023.

There. Is. Nothing. Better. Than. A. Clear. Blue. Sky. After The Storm. Taken literally, the track listing for Barem’s debut LP represents that fleeting moment when nature puts its house in order, when calm and clarity triumph over chaos. Of course it also works perfectly as a metaphor for those fuzzy moments of self-reflection while sprawled on a hotel bed after another mind-blowing night at the controls, or while taking stock of a musical journey that’s about to culminate in a debut album for the internationally renowned label that motivated you to start making music in the first place.

Barem has always offered a more laidback counterpoint to the edgy sounds of some of his label mates. His decision to progress in a deeper, percussive direction began with the Kolimar EP (M68) and apart from the dark, ambient intro There, this vibe dominates the first half of the album. Is and Nothing really showcase his skill at concocting instinctive, percussion driven grooves, expressing a natural inner rhythm that exploits the full stereo field. Rich, rounded drum fills puncture the hidden space behind the beats, shimmering reverbs drench the cymbals while the bass lines remain reassuringly fat and familiar, gently hypnotizing as the LP settles into its groove. By the time we reach Better the low pressure is beginning to break. Additional elements gradually make their presence felt as the beats continue to flay and splinter, phasing strings heighten the suspense and a delicate one note riff skips and bounces through spot effects and sprinkled vocal snippets as Barem coolly maintains the growing intrigue.

As if to highlight the evolving nature of the LP, the transition to the more dubbed-out Than goes almost unnoticed as the gentle undertow begins pulling us into more familiar Minus territory. Disorienting percussive delays start jarring into the void, indiscernible vocal slurs reverberate out into the corners of the room and warm, acidic bleeps start tapping at the doors of perception. By the time we reach A, the psychedelics have well and truly kicked in. The percussive onslaught of the preceding tracks gives way to a deeper, mystical atmosphere driven by shakers and hats and offset with cavernous delays and detuned pads that warp and envelope the collective consciousness in the orange-red glow of some ancient tribal ritual.

Having broken through to the other side, the eye of the storm is upon us. The last four tracks are all about the future. Clear gives ground to an abstract, subsonic groove that hisses and crackles like the dying embers of the night. A twisting motif then emerges from the flames rolling back and forth across the dance floor like some great bird stretching its wings before taking flight. Circling higher and higher, it is reduced to a distant speck before Blue - one of the definite standout tracks on the album - embarks on a spiral dive that represents Barem’s new unity of sound in one magic bullet. With an audacious swoop it scatters the storm clouds, fusing together all the contrasting aspects of his repertoire that make the album such an intoxicating journey. Sky then announces the final ascent with a long, seductive intro that crystallizes into an elegant melody, while the throbbing bass line generates another ecstatic rush of dark energy.

And then the clouds part, the sun breaks through and we’re left with the sensation of After The Storm: after the turbulence and the tumult, we’re greeted with tribal rhythms, muffled brass section and superb fretless bass riff all benefitting from a shift in 6/8 blues time signature that gives the album finale a fittingly reflective sensation – what Barem himself describes as that feeling of beauty when the dust is gone and everything is finally clear.

Dynamic Reflection will celebrate fifteen years of age this year, a milestone that is deserving of a proper celebration. And a proper celebration is what it will have in the form of five various artist EP’s: Liquid Solids, Quantum Realm, Infinite Oscillation, Equilibrium and Eye of Agamotto, each representing one of the five elements of nature.
This first of five releases kicks things into high gear right away. All four tracks combine fast paced rhythms with a certain funkiness and with your eyes closed, it’s hard not to think of the late 90’s and early 00’s. Don’t be surprised to hear these repetitive cuts pop up on primetime slots on a dancefloor near you these coming months.   Liquid Solids is the first part of Dynamic Reflection’s 15 year anniversary celebration: Time Crystals. I have been supporting Spiros Kaloumenos productions heavily the past
couple of years and I am proud to finally announce a release by him on
Noir Music.

3 amazing and well crafted originals are included. From the hard-hitting
title track “Photosphere” to the more atmospheric “Orion Nebula” and an
fantastic remix from Juan Trujillo of the latter. Another great producer
that’s been on my radar for a long time.

As always the artists and myself road - tested the tracks to make sure
arrangements and details are spot on.

I am happy that the debut release from Sprios Kaloumenos and debut
remix from Juan Trujillo on Noir Music turned out as great as they did.
Another release where its hard for me to pick my a favourite and
definitely another release to be proud of as label-boss.

In June 2011 the house producer Marek Hemmann and the Singer Fabian Reichelt released their first album to the masses on Freude Am Tanzen. Only Our Hearts to Lose was one of the first markers on the way these two were headed they began with the street-sweeper single "Left/Right": the synthesis of pop and club, the melting of Marek Hemmanns singularly fine austere tech house and Fabian Reichelts lyrics. The results couldn't be disputed and even more appreciated, yet still not quite every techno fan could quite feel this flyer from their favorite DJ in strange (quite pop) clothes. Perhaps not everyone trusts themselves to just say to themselves: bring the pathos, the feelings and the melting voice because it just has to be! At the same time in the club context, because as they both are of the opinion that there is the most thrilling place for modern songwriting. Where else can you find the fundamentally excited and music loving bunch in one place? Where else can an artist drop his 'hurray' atom-bomb on the masses and drop it on the one? Thus, 'Only Our Hearts To Lose' presents a shimmering, beautiful being in the club and the balcony, between a tender sunset and the deepest part of the nights dance. 

Im Juni 2011 brachten der Houseproduzent Marek Hemmann und der Sänger Fabian Reichelt bei Freude Am Tanzen in Jena ihr erstes gemeinsames Album auf den Markt. Only Our Hearts To Lose war ein erster dicker Markstein auf dem Weg, den beide im Jahr zuvor mit der Straßenfeger-Single „Left / Right“ begonnen hatten: die Synthese aus Pop und Club, die Verschmelzung von Marek Hemmanns markantem, fein austarierten Tech House und Fabian Reichelts lyrischer Stimme. Das Ergebnis war nicht unumstritten, noch immer goutiert nicht jeder Technofan die Ausflüge seines/ihres Herzens-DJ in fremde (noch dazu eher poppige) Gefilde. Aber vielleicht traut sich auch einfach noch nicht jeder, einmal ganz freien Herzens zu sagen: Ja, bitte, her mit dem Pathos, her mit dem großen Gefühl und dem Schmelz in der Stimme, denn das muss einmal sein! Auch und gerade im Clubkontext, denn das, so sagten beide, sei ja schließlich der spannendste Ort für modernes Songwriting, wo sonst findet man so viele grundbegeisterte und musikliebende Menschen auf einem Haufen, und wo sonst kann man als Künstler alle seine Hurra-Atome so gewaltig mit der Masse zum Gleichklang bringen. So ist Only Our Hearts To Lose ein schönes, schillerndes Wesen zwischen Club und Balkon, zwischen zartem Sonnenaufgang und tiefster Tanznacht.

With almost 30 years in the Electronic music industry, Vince Watson has released over 1000 songs including 250 EP’s, including 15 albums and 75 remixes, and his hard work has been rewarded with recordings for some of the very best electronic music labels like Cocoon, Planet E, Yoruba, Poker Flat, BBE and Transmat as well as running his own Everysoul label.  His skillsets have allowed him to work with some of the very best electronic artists including Laurent Garnier, Joe Claussell, Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Carl Craig, Osunlade, Steve Bug & Josh Wink and as a touring musician has been able to play at some of the worlds best clubs and events including Enter at Space, Ibiza, Berghain Berlin, Womb Tokyo and many events in The Netherlands. 
His radio show ‘Radio Drama’ has featured top guest from the electronic music world each month. Some examples include Ben Sims, Truncate, Manoo, Fred P, Steve Bug, Osunlade and many more.

Late 2020 Vince released an LP for The Outlaw Oceans music project entitled ‘Hope’, which was commissioned by the New York Times investigative journalist Ian Urbina and is now in production for Netflix as a documentary series.

Vince’s live shows are in demand around the world, performing in summer 2022 for Carl Cox’s birthday at DC10 Ibiza and as a former Tresor Berlin resident, his DJ sets are also now highly requested with appearances in clubs such as Berghain and Womb. Vince is currently resident of 909 Festival in Amsterdam. He debuted at Berlin’s HoR late 2022.

His sets can be heard in many headline podcasts series, where he has featured in podcasts from Carl Cox, John Digweed, Dave Clarke, Luciano, DJ Mag, Electronic Beats and Resident Advisor.

His 2021 His 18 track Detroit Techno LP ‘DnA’ was ‘[re]Sequenced’ by some of his favourite artists from the genre, including Carl Craig, John Beltran, Claude Young, Jon Dixon, Shawn Rudiman, Steve Rachmad, Stephen Lopkin and Stephen Brown.

Vince also debuted a new techno live project called Amorphic which launched with releases on Modularz, Symbolism and Token as well as a self-titled label, now 3 Ep’s deep.

As well as his ‘normal’ touring schedule and studio commitments, Vince’s experience and knowledge is also being put to use by Conservatorium van Amsterdam where Vince is working as a Senior Degree Lecturer for AEMA, the CvA’s new Electronic music school, where he teaches DJ classes, Production classes and Remix classes.
