We're all searching for something. That's the essence of life. We look for fulfillment, validation, and love at every turn. It's a quest for substance and the truth. 

That search for meaning drives The Seeking on Yours Forever, their debut album for Razor & Tie. The Sacramento quintet—Taylor Green [Vocals], Dylan Housewright [Guitar/Vocals], Grayson Smith [Guitar], Shane Tiller [Bass], and Ben Wood [Drums]—fuses together precise metal intensity with impenetrable melodic sensibility, yielding a sound that's utterly undeniable and often uplifting. 

For Taylor and Dylan, their collective search began when they first met in junior high school. Taylor serendipitously ended up at Dylan's house one afternoon, and he realized they shared a deep passion for music, among many other things.

"We had so many similar interests," Dylan recalls. "We both grew up leading music in church, but loving metal at the same time. Right off the bat, we clicked. Soon, Taylor was coming over every day, and we began talking about starting a band even way back then. It was like we were meant to be friends."

In 2010, while still in high school, they officially formed The Seeking. The group immediately began to stir up buzz locally due to their patented personal style, confidently walking between metal, pop, and hard rock. After a year of writing and performing, they signed with Razor & Tie and hit the studio with producer Colby Wedgeworth [This Century, Austin Gibbs] to record what would eventually become Yours Forever.

"He really helped us hone the sound," adds Taylor. "He encouraged us to add solos and infuse a pop element that wasn't overbearing. We reached the perfect combination for us together."

You can hear it clearly on the album's first single "Restless". Taylor's screaming jumpstarts the verse leading smoothly into a divinely catchy refrain from Dylan. It certainly hits hard, but there's also a deeper meaning.

"Lyrically, it's about redemption," Taylor reveals. "We're breathless and restless, but we find comfort through belief in a higher power and the existence of a larger purpose." 

Then, there's the title track. It's a swirling anthem bolstered by a divine guitar echo and the vocalists' soaring interplay. "We try to write relatable songs," says Dylan. "This song could sound like a love story to someone, but someone else might relate to it in a different way. 'Yours Forever' examines losing sight of what's important but receiving encouragement to get back on the right track. You always belong to something greater than yourself. We find hope in that."

Everything culminates on the poetic and poignant closer "Alone", which boasts lush instrumentation and a heartfelt refrain. Dylan continues, "It's about a time in my life when I was messing up and hanging out with the wrong people. I ended up closing those people out, and I felt really alone. So many times, you think you're capable, but you can't always handle things on your own. There's always someone there for you, and that realization can be life-changing."

The Seeking also continually deliver on stage. They've floored crowds at festivals such as Warped Tour and Rock & Roots, and they'll be rarely leaving the road once they embark on their first U.S. jaunt in the fall of 2012.

Ultimately, there's an important message at the heart of this music. Taylor enthuses, "We'd love for people to take something positive from what we do. If you have a goal, don't give up. It's important to realize anything is possible."

"If fans are empowered and the music gives them confidence, that's amazing," concludes Dylan. "This album and band are about loving others and encouraging the best in them."

The Seeking will be with you on your own search for a long time to come.

With Fever 333 frontman Jason Aalon Butler and rap sensation Sueco joining proceedings to create a triple-pronged vocal attack, ‘Swerve’ provides a first glimpse at one of the most varied and compelling periods of the the group’s career. Clear, confident and above all competitive, it sees them challenging perceptions and breaking new ground, tossing the handbrake out of the window in the process.
