He could hear the engine roaring beneath him, it was strained and mighty.

Smoke billowed from exhausts, then it all went dark as they hit the end of the tunnel and returned to the night.

Guava holds no punches with a new EP for Faux Poly, this one is a bass focussed affair with rising synths, frenetic energy and a sense of immeasurable tension. This will do damage in the clubs. Be warned.

To this end, everyone at Turbo is grateful beyond words that venerable veteran’s veterans Extrawelt are bringing the full bore of their two decades’ experience to bear on this slice of genre-defiling excellence. The German due open with the thorax-pummeling EBM of the title track, followed up by the angry electro of “Angry Elektro.” And if you think the EP lets up from there, keep listening to find out just how wrong what you think is, because the next track is called “Angry Halibut” and sounds exactly what you’re terrified that sounds like. Grindmaster culminates with the goalie-on-acid-fantasy acid banger “Save City” and bottomless warehouse trip-soundtrack “Flunk.” 

Those of you who choose not to support your local record store will be rewarded accordingly, as Extrawelt’s own “Drop Outs in Heaven Remix” of “Flunk” is yours as a digital exclusive. We have no real problem with vinyl lovers but they should probably come to terms with the fact that digital music - and by extension, digital exclusives - is perhaps the defining trend of 2024. Greta Levska has been on fire of late. Much of her music has come on this label, including her fantastic ‘Ibiza Get Physical’ release earlier in the year. It's a collection packed with her signature forward-thinking sounds, many of them inspired by the White Isle. It is there that she has been a Monday resident for Amnesia Presents all summer while also guesting at Pyramid and Do Not Sleep alongside Maceo Plex, Raxon & more. Following plenty of support across BBC Radio1 from the likes of Sarah Story and Jaguar, she now offers a glimpse of what to expect from her much-anticipated debut album next year.


The brilliant ‘Moulin Krew' is a kinetic electro gem. The bassline is sleazy and twisted, with an old-school feel coming from the stabbed vocals and breaks that are reminiscent of early hip-hop. It's a muscular, full-flavoured sound to liven up any club and more than whets the whistle for the full length to come.

The label was established in 2018 as a means to release the back catalogue of renowned Jungle Techno label Underdog Recordings, which ran from 1993-1995. It quickly expanded from beyond the original goal and now reissues sought after, rare and classic records from the Jungle, Rave, Bleep House, Techno and Jungle Techno genres.

The Vinyl Fanatiks aim is to track down and work with the original artists from the early 1990’s, to reissue their music on vinyl only, and to support the record hunters and vinyl diggers from around the world with quality pressings and superb mastering; a way to show respect and share the story of those that created these incredible records.

The vision is not to focus on the obvious artists of that time but to dig a little deeper and find those that came and went but their legacy still holds true to this day. Some of these producers only released one record and vanished soon after but their music still resonates into the 21st century, accumulating new audiences across the globe, far beyond the catchment of the UK pirate radios and muddy fields of 25 years ago. What happened to these artists? Its Vinyl Fanatik’s mission to find out!

Each record captures a moment in time, a vibe that was true and innocent from a period when music was far more synonymous with rebellion and anarchy than today’s finely polished productions and conformist club pop. This music itself bred on the outskirts of society, fuelled by the passion of the rave, its lineage stemming from the Acid House era of 1988. Often produced on minimal equipment, with minimal skills and knowledge, its audio blueprint transcends to new generations, a rawness that no expensive audio plug in could ever create in this present day.

Vinyl Fanatiks wants to pay homage to these young producers who forged the foundations of the multi-million pound EDM scene we have now. Each of these artists has their own tale to tell, their own memories to share. Limited by their own geographical status within the UK, they somehow still all managed to connect and influence each other, years before the internet, mobile phones and social media that we have today. But the music knew no limits and had no boundaries, transcending generations to this day.
