The Deccadents: The Sound of A Revolution…

Voted No 1 best album in the ‘Music of the Millennium’ Poll 2013, The Deccadents appear to have made a ‘dent’ on the world’s stage with their self-less titled debut album “Please Ease The Deccandents”.  There has been building anticipation for what has clearly become a radical new sound, changing people’s attitudes to popular music in the western world. Singer/songwriter and bass guitarist Peter McCarthy’s acclaim that they are the ‘greatest and most influential act of the rock era’ shows an undeterred modesty in his reflection of the bands overnight success. They are certainly on their way having released automatic hits such as “My Little Girl” and “Feeling Blue”. However, their status in rock history was cemented when they found their feet with “Find Your Feet” which sold over 4 million copies within the first two weeks. 
The Deccadents, originally from Spleenpool  in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne, started out with high hopes of turning their truly unique sound and look into something resembling global dominance. Band members James, Peter, Geoff and Richard all met during a short course in painting at the Spleenpool CAE. They all had a shared passion to create music and a look that was not reminiscent of anything else and, of course, to create their own unique sound invasion.  Having caused some public controversy following guitarist James Legends’ statement that they were going to be ‘more popular than Julia Gillard’, The Deccadents returned to Melbourne recently hoping to achieve acclaim and success at ABC Exhumed on July 15th.
