Two Hospital Records titans collide! Metrik & Grafix join forces for a highly anticipated collaboration after the success of their hugely popular track ‘Parallel’, released on Metrik’s third studio album ‘Ex Machina’. The pair got to work in Devon Analogue Studios combining their production precision and unmatchable energy to deliver an exhilarating drum & bass powerhouse anthem. With over 23 years combined of supplying huge dancefloor classics like ‘Tension’, ‘Fatso’, ‘Radiance’ and more, you can be sure that the alliance of Metrik & Grafix elevate their sound into unchartered sonic territory.

Otherworldly synth riffs carve out a pathway for Metrik’s own vocals to trailblaze through, whilst crisp snare hits and electrifying atmospheres crescendo into an invigorating state of Overdrive. Resonant bass wobbles and thunderous drum hits are the clear product of Metrik & Grafix’s creative collaboration. The duo’s rock and hip-hop influences become ever more apparent in the breakdown as halftime breaks and nostalgia-fuelled guitars, played in by Grafix, step into the forefront. Drum & bass doesn’t get more weighty than this.

The widely-acclaimed debut collaboration from Metrik & Grafix, ‘Parallel’ gets the VIP treatment on the B-side as the drum & bass behemoths revisit the future classic. The pair have crafted an ever-more immersive introduction teasing the original melodies, before exploding into pure 174BPM energy.

The coming together of Metrik & Grafix is a prospect that has sent shockwaves throughout the drum & bass community. The pair hosted their solo livestream series throughout lockdown, with Metrik’s nominated for the 2021 AIM Awards ‘Best Live [Streamed] Act’. Plus Metrik & Grafix are no stranger to having their selections blasted out on the airwaves with combined support from radio tastemakers like Annie Mac, Danny Howard, MistaJam, Rene LaVice and Charlie Tee and dance music icons such as Andy C, Sub Focus, DJ Marky and Wilkinson, this exciting new duo project has stepped the game up in the world of dancefloor drum & bass. ‘Overdrive’ & ‘Parallel (VIP)’ will be available on an extremely limited vinyl run which will be available exclusively on The Hospital Shop.

Next up on Viper Recording is our very own Jack Mirror. Since 2017 Jack Mirror has been carving his name a little deeper into the scene with each and every release. It’s not a secret that he could be the next up and comer about to blow. Jack Mirror’s ability to blend the dark, rowdy underbelly of drum and bass music with a sing-a-long hand-in-the-air accessibility has earned him some serious support from the likes of UKF, Radio 1 and FabricLive. After the huge success of his set dominating beauty ‘Junipero’ Jack Mirror is back to bless us with another glorious piece of music.

‘With You’ effortlessly secretes a cool, understated lure. The track’s forward chugging back-bone is delicately layered with touches of modulated button-like bleeps, and a subtle, ever-present, rumbling low end. Providing an inescapable hook is flowanastasia's gorgeously smooth vocal which brightly juxtaposes the laidback, moody musical elements, skillfully extenuating each component. 

For us though the true beauty of ‘With You’ lies in its deceptive simplicity, it’s the lack of over-layering here which makes this truly special, with the percussion, melody and vocal each given the space to show how perfectly executed they are. ‘With You’ is crystal clear in it’s musicality and has an unquestionable elegance which proves you can stay classy while sporting your bass face.

Futurebound’s latest release “Fall” is a high-powered dancefloor stomper featuring the vocal talents of the incredible Dolly Rae. “Fall” is bursting with feel-good, euphoric energy from the get go. Even if this year hasn’t given us much, it has at least provided us with some incredible music, and adding to the list is the new project by dubstep superstars Doctor P and Phil Roksonix. Freaks & Geeks is the name of their new alias and they have a plethora of drum&bass tracks lined up for release. Rampage Recordings is incredibly honoured to be chosen to send the very first of those into the universe. ‘Discovery’ is an astonishing masterclass in dancefloor liquid drum&bass, complete with spaced out atmospherix, punchy drums and a lead riff that will stay with you for days to come. All of that is topped off by the vocals of Ruth Royall, who has established herself this past year as one of the leading ladies of the scene. After working with Macky Gee, Grafix and Pola & Bryson, she was now enlisted to add an extra dose of awesomeness to this already outstanding release.

Freaks & Geeks are set to pop up on some of the biggest labels in the world in the next 6 months or so, but they’ll have a hard time surpassing the goosebump-inducing qualities of ‘Discovery’. The song is destined to make us long for clubs and festivals even more and when those finally return, DJs can expect this to be way up on the punters’ request lists!
