After making his last appearance on the RAM Records 2021 annual, Russian maestro Nuvertal draws into the New Year through a brand-new single on RAM’s sister-label ProgRAM. Having already featured on the imprint through its Programmed compilation series, it's his second standalone release on the imprint and one which is sure to lend to his artistic development as the year progresses.

Both ‘Shiva’ and ‘Anastasia’ nod to the evolution of Nuvertal and his journey for 2022. With the shifting beats which sit throughout ‘Shiva’ adding to its layered vocal chants and the rolling rhythms of ‘Anastasia’ providing a diverse flipside alongside its 32 bar switch up, Nuvertal is showing the textures of his production. So once again, it’s time to get with the ProgRAM. A key platform for an artist's continued journey within the drum & bass world.

The song tells the story of a small bumblebee that works endlessly for the hive, a metaphor for exhaustion and losing yourself in a world that never slows down. Gentle piano parts mirror fatigue, while powerful electronic drops capture the drive to keep going. This track is not a typical club banger – it’s an emotional journey that balances melancholy and energy, designed to resonate both on headphones and on the biggest festival stages. Two of Hospital Record’s most electrifying artists have formed an allegiance for a true coming together of titans. Bournemouth’s Krakota and Sao Paulo’s Urbandawn have combined their production talents to create the five-track ‘Focus Shift’ EP – a real drum & bass mash up of styles and sonic sequences.

The aptly named ‘Coyote’ is an absolute howler, unashamedly powerful and loaded with energy, distorting and plunging itself into new streams of audio chaos throughout.

‘Laguna’ fits with their alter-egos – sweet, pensive and majestic. Operating within a more classic Hospital framework, this rolling stroke of musical bliss will leave no party unsatisfied.

Sitting in the middle of this concerted creation is title track ‘Focus Shift’. Informed by both liquid-funk and tech styles, it’s gelled together with scathing bass riffs and high profile percussive chops.

‘Epigram’ has all the bassweight you’d expect from such a monolith collision of production powerhouses. Crisp and sinful, with a consistently militant atmosphere this song is pure depth, darkness and danger; with a genuinely intriguing sonic progression that renders this track as devastating as weapons grade plutonium.

Seeing the release home is ‘Paladin’. An ardent dancefloor destroyer that fuses the power of the stepper with the groove of a roller, that even angels would find themselves bustin’ a skank. Uplifting and powerful with cosmic subtleties in the low end twinned with sombre melodies and skittering drum-work all tempered in unison to create a certified banger.

Individually and as part of a duo, Matrix & Futurebound have decades worth of experience in shaping the drum & bass landscape. Brendan Collins and Jamie Quinn possess one of the most impressive track records in the genre’s history, boasting one hundred million combined streams, multiple consecutive Top 40 UK singles, and two critically acclaimed artist albums (Universal Truth & Mystery Machine). Their sophomore album ‘Mystery Machine’ released earlier this year, is testament to the legacy they’ve built throughout their careers; packed full of drum & bass anthems and underground tributes alike, encompassing the duos versatility, and has already received huge global support since its April release.

Now, furthering the celebrations in what has already been a massive year for both Viper and Metro Recordings, Matrix & Futurebound, are proud to release a carefully selected ‘Mystery Machine Remix EP’ with some of the album’s most iconic tracks. With the remixers handpicked by Futurebound and Matrix, the selection shows their eye for spotting exciting talent and bring the ‘Mystery Machine’ album to new audiences with this special remix EP released in two parts on their own imprints Metro-Viper.

The 'Mystery Machine Remix EP' will be split in to 2 parts with the first including remixes of 'Hindsight' & 'Follow Me' dropping on the 27th September

‘Hindsight’ is taken on by one of Viper’s newest and most formidable signings, Millbrook. After his massively successful singles ‘Rituals’, ‘The Rise’, ‘Beyond’, and ‘Refractions’ earlier this year, Millbrook once more moves from strength to strength with his remix capturing the elegance of the original with an enchanting new twist, that creates an alluring ambiance right from the start. Milbrook’s signature sound shines through with the drop which is simultaneously cinematic and funky while still incorporating the original vocal for the perfect remix.

‘Follow Me’, the latest single from the album comes from the Remix Competition Viper hosted together with American bass music giants Bassrush, won by Dutch duo Polygon. Ayak’s warm and luxurious vocals flood the speakers amidst Polygon’s poignant rendition of the original melody, slowly building in energy before erupting into a vibrant dancefloor drop that won’t soon be forgotten. Another flawless rendition of the classic Matrix & Futurebound sound, Polygon have successfully managed to pay homage to the original while still putting their own spin on it.
