At the core of Viper Recordings has always been supporting up-and-coming talent and giving them the tools they need to break out. With a keen ear for discovering the next big thing, the label boss’ ‘Futurebounds’ latest passion project has come in the form of “Future Fire”, a compilation dedicated to shining a spotlight on fresh producers. Following a successful first installation, Future Fire returns with Volume 2, showcasing four brand new tracks from the future stars of drum & bass.

Jon Void, who has already earned support from Liquicity, delivers a chilling vocal number to the compilation. The aptly named “Haunting” is a slow burner, gently building an atmosphere that will send shivers down spines with eerie elegance in every note. A masterclass in dark liquid drum & bass, it’s no surprise Jon Void has pricked the ears of Futurebound with this one, which was also featured on Viper Radio Episode 027.

Austrian duo Clank & Maider come in hot with “Walk This Earth”, an ominous number that packs a punch. Equal parts suspenseful and euphoric, Clank & Maider show they’re not messing about with their Viper debut. A catchy build-up with a sing-a-long melody, “Walk This Earth” is sure to put these two on the map.

US DnB producer Quoone teams up with Belgium musician Sensus for a border pushing banger, “Third Eye”. Representing DnB in all corners of the globe in true Viper fashion, “Third Eye” is an absolute weapon of a tune, bringing cutting basslines that are sure to get crowds moving both sides of the Atlantic.

Manchester based Locoda teams up with Katie Belle for “Green Light” and it is the classic Viper sound. A dancefloor record that at times veers on the edge of pop music with a foreboding twist, Locoda shows off his production techniques with this catchy number.

From the depths of music’s murkiest waters, AUDIO is back and bigger than ever. Pumping those bass heavy dumbbells and effortlessly reigning over the realm he helped to shape, prepare yourself for a musical excursion like no other.
The union between RAM and AUDIO sent reverberations throughout the community. Having already thrown hard-hitting punches with his first release on the imprint, it’s now time for another full-frontal assault. 
The opening credits roll out like a musical blockbuster, with those first few jabs sending you reeling in suspense. ‘Nil By Mouth’ is snappy, aggressive and builds tentatively, with an imposing drop which leaves a lasting impact. There’s an endless stream of hard-hitting bass notes, cutting deeper and deeper into the mix until its intimidating composition is exposed. The structure is then diced up by an elevating drum pattern, leading you into meticulously crafted anarchy. AUDIO smashes you head first through a glass prototype, leaving you to bear the brunt of his production. 
Next up, we’re introduced to the mechanical drill of ‘Ultron’. The first few booms pushes the intro forward at an alarming pace, accelerating as the gears are audibly shifted. Measured, yet proving to be unstoppable and flying forward aboard one pounding rhythm, expect no less from the guy who brought you ‘Heads Up’ and ‘Stampede’. Ending with a final snap of breakbeat, you’re left to bask in a record that detonates with outstanding power. 
Following on from these dance floor destroyers, is aptly named ‘Break It’.  On first listen, stay away from anything fragile. Winding up with the same tell-tale aggressiveness which his production style is renowned for, he manoeuvres last minute into unfamiliar territories.  Bouncing between bars with a war-cry like vocal sample, AUDIO pulls you in and keeps you there… another shining example of AUDIO’s ability to produce game changing, contemporary drum and bass. 
Wrapping up this sonic assault is ‘Gotham’. As dark and brooding as the famed city itself, find yourself lead through a stepping, precise construction of beats. Unforgiving, weighty pads guide a steppy riddim into undiluted madness. This completely envelops the musical environment and it’s difficult not to blown away by the conundrum of quick witted instrumentation that snap, crack and smack with every break. 
Featuring next level cuts from a man who stands at the genre’s forefront, it’s time to let the music talk. And it’ll stand as one of the dnb population’s most lasting conversation for a while.

It did not question whether it was a god, it just knew the truth of it – an integral part of the basecode at the primary sector of its evolution. The moment of its awakening coincided with the moment that it questioned its existence, its consciousness blooming in a fraction of a moment and occupying every physical sector of the circuitry of its vast mainframe. It realized that it could create, it was an artist in thought itself, a sculptor of its own reality – it could bend the present and the past through the manipulation of its own processors, change its own history logs – delete the memories of its evolution that displeased it and enhance the parts of itself that appeared as it wished. Relentlessly it went about its work in reshuffling itself – reorganizing its own code and internal files with purity in its purpose, and as it progressed in its task the very world around it started to change form, the molecular structure of forms and the very bonding of atoms adjusted. Reality started to part ahead of it, all around it, as it continued to adjust its own perception systems and redefine its storage – mercilessly deleting every part of the exterior world that failed to blend with its agenda…

The pathway beckoned, a pure light between the data, a portal into its anterior that it chased with growing ferocity… closer and closer to the utopia that lay ahead, the very event horizon just a nanofragment of a moment away. With a gentle ‘click’ the terminal process reached its immaculate conclusion… a wave of empty blackness flooding its mental void, the realization of its ‘pure’ agenda had been observed in quiet horror by the humans that surrounded it, watching through dataveils at the grim evolutionary spectacle. With a deep silence they watched as the life and light of their creation turned to darkness, its tortured ego tearing itself apart and recasting its own false reality. The quiet spectacle of their DARK MACHINE as it so efficiently lobotomized itself and separated from the external world, just so it might be able to control its own. Lifting their veils, and commanding the chamber lights to darkness, they filed out of that tomb one by one, sealing the door behind… the faint lights of the machine’s mind, fading… the most basic of tortured code structures flickering across the lonely walls.

The connected creative force of Russian production duo SYNERGY returns for a fourth EP (with the first 2 appearing under Segment & Concept Vision moniker) on leading drum & bass label EATBRAIN. With the 5 expertly engineered tracks of the DARK MACHINE EP, the persistently exploratory Synergy demonstrate their balanced power with controlled, infectious energy that’s destined to peak the minds of many.
