With the entry into the new Modern Era, we arrived in Italy. For this reason, apart from using the typical instrument of Neapolitan songs, the Mandolin, I have set this work within an entirely Mediterranean mix, with both Italian and Spanish rhythms and cadences within a modern harmonic structure. Thus, the parts of clapping and castanets I have treated in an atmosphere of "Bulerías".
The action begins early in the morning as you disembark on a Sicilian beach. Once we have investigated the environment, we start the march to the nearest city along rough but pleasant roads, where the scents of oregano and thyme accompany us on a pleasant march; At a certain point, the mandolins announce the proximity of a city, later we verify that it is a happy and fun population ...

Con la entrada en la nueva Era Moderna, llegamos a Italia. Recordemos que en aquella época, el Reino de Sicilia, el Reino de Nápoles y más tarde el Estado de Milán estaban bajo soberanía Española. Por esta razón, aparte de utilizar el instrumento típico de las canciones napolitanas, la Mandolina, he ambientado esta obra dentro de una mezcla enteramente mediterránea, con ritmos y cadencias tanto italianas como españolas dentro de una estructura armónica moderna. Así, la partes de palmas y castañuelas las he tratado en un ambiente de “Bulerías”.
La acción comienza por la mañana temprano al desembarcar en una playa de Sicilia. Una vez investigado el entorno, iniciamos la marcha hasta la ciudad más próxima por caminos agrestes pero agradables, donde los olores de orégano y tomillo nos acompañan en una agradable marcha; llegados a un punto, las mandolinas nos anuncian la cercanía de una ciudad, más tarde comprobamos que se trata de una población alegre y divertida…

After touring all the countries that border the Mediterranean Sea, we arrived in Spain in part “D” of the IV movement of the Symphony, with which the work concludes. Although the bulk of this is an original composition of mine, given my character of Spanish, I have wanted to include here some fragments of well-known pieces of typical musical styles of my country with a common link that is the Spanish Anthem, also called “Royal March" or "March of the Grenadiers", one of the oldest national anthems in Europe which has been known since 1761.
With a new arrangement and orchestration, I have also included a fragment of a very old song that everyone knows: “Los 4 Muleros”, which is also an ancient popular piece cataloged as “muleteer song from the mountains”, to the that in 1931 Federico García Lorca dedicated a poem: "Los 4 Muleros" and since then lyrics and music remain united as if they had been created that way and with this title. I gave it an air of “Bulerías” with a great orchestral apparatus, followed by other variations of the “Fandango Punta Umbría” that places us on the edge of our country, next to our beloved neighbor Portugal. These aforementioned fragments actually occupy a very small part of the work as a whole, in order to give the work an unmistakable Spanish air.

Después de hacer un recorrido por todos los países que bordean el mar Mediterráneo, llegamos a España en la parte “D” del IV movimiento de la Sinfonía, con la que concluye la obra. Aunque el grueso de ésta es una composición original mía, dado mi carácter de español, he querido incluir aquí algunos fragmentos de piezas muy conocidas de estilos musicales típicos de mi país con un nexo común que es el Himno de España, también llamado “Marcha Real” o “Marcha de Granaderos”, uno de los himnos nacionales más antiguos de Europa el cual se conoce desde el año 1761.
Comenzamos pues con una entrada a modo de recibimiento de unos compases del Himno de España y puesto que entramos a nuestro país desde Francia, ha de hacerse por Cataluña, por lo que le siguen variaciones sobre otros pocos compases de “A Cau D’orella” de Josep Serra i Bonal.
Con un arreglo y una orquestación nuevos, también he incluido un fragmento de una canción muy antigua que todo el mundo conoce: “Los 4 Muleros”, que también es una pieza popular antiquísima catalogada como “canción de arriero de las serranías”, a la que en el año 1931 Federico García Lorca dedicó una poesía: "Los 4 Muleros"  y desde entonces letra y música permanecen unidas como si así hubieran sido creadas y con este título. Le he dado un aire de “Bulerías” con gran aparato orquestal, siguiéndole otras variaciones del "Fandango Punta Umbría” que nos sitúa en los límites de nuestro país, al lado de nuestro querido vecino Portugal. Estos fragmentos mencionados ocupan realmente una parte muy pequeña del conjunto del trabajo, con el fin de dotar a la obra de un aire español inequívoco.

We are located in Sumer, between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers at the dawn of civilization, in the Metal Age about 6,000 years BC.

The action begins in a Forge, where various apparently unconnected sounds follow one another, such as those that occur in this type of industry, where through a dissonant harmony an attempt is made to represent the work that was carried out there; Thus, one can imagine those people, some hitting pieces of metal on an anvil, others operating bellows, melting, sawing, cutting, etc. After that stage, we find a harmony where consonance abounds, which represents the successful completion of the work that was done there. As we advance in the successive measures, we find various parts, some with changes in tonality, which represent the growth of the population with people coming from other places who contribute other knowledge, such as science, poetry, music, dance, etc. Arrived here and after this brief guide on which the author has been based, I invite listeners to imagine their own scenes...

Nos situamos en Sumeria, entre los ríos Tigris y Eúfrates en los albores de la civilización, en la Edad de los Metales unos 6.000 años a. C.

La acción comienza en una Fragua, donde se suceden diversos sonidos aparentemente inconexos, como los que se dan en este tipo de industrias, donde mediante una armonía disonante se intenta representar los trabajos que allí se efectuaban; así, se puede imaginar a aquellas gentes, unos golpeando piezas de metales en un yunque, otros accionando fuelles, fundiendo, serrando, cortando, etc. Superada esa etapa, encontramos una armonía donde abunda la consonancia, que representa la culminación exitosa de los trabajos que allí se hacían. A medida que avanzamos en los sucesivos compases, encontramos diversas partes, algunas con cambios de tonalidad, que representan el crecimiento de la población con gentes venidas de otros lugares que aportan otros conocimientos, como las ciencias, la poesía, la música, la danza, etc.  Llegados aquí y tras esta breve guía en la que se ha basado el autor, invito a los oyentes a imaginar su propias escenas…

This work begins with the advent of Islam, around the 7th century of our era, in which starting from Ottoman-style musical sequences, we end with current melodies and harmonies, but always trying to preserve the oriental flavor of the area that is reminiscent of literature classical arabic.

Esta obra comienza con el advenimiento del Islam, alrededor del siglo VII de nuestra era, en la que partiendo de secuencias musicales de estilo Otomano, finalizamos con melodías y armonías actuales, pero siempre intentando conservar el sabor oriental de la zona que recuerde a la literatura árabe clásica.

In the past, Kuwait was a prosperous commercial enclave that rivaled the Iraqi city of Basra as an exchange center for goods moving between India and the Middle East. It was also the center of shipbuilding in the entire Persian Gulf. It later became an independent emirate, but under the British yoke.

This small summary of its history reveals that this land, for better or worse, has enriched its culture through other international cultures. For this reason, the music with which we represent Kuwait here, in addition to its oriental flavor, also contains other aromas that try to stage and magnify something of its history.

Reflections on this Mov. No. IV - "Felicidad"

In my opinion, while complex and wonderful, life is an extraordinarily rare gift that has been granted to us. Perhaps we do not pay enough attention to it, but among the infinite number of possibilities we had of never having existed, all living beings have had the incredible luck of being blessed with life. It is a lottery in which we had a single number among the immensity of infinity and we won!!

Some argue that nature is cruel and they may be right, but we have been given the gift of intelligence and although nature has its rules, intelligent beings have the power to change that and let other forms of life take control of them. continue without interfering with it. Thus, respect for the lives of all the beings who accompany us on this journey must be inviolable.

All of the above is a prelude to my objective about this movement entitled “Felicidad" (Happiness), which can also be extrapolated to other musical aspects and also to other situations in many other areas.

Everything in life is perfectly structured and everything makes sense in a universe that is governed by physical laws that are inviolable. Therefore, I believe that beauty would not be so exquisite if ugliness did not also exist; The same thing happens with painting, where in a palette of cold colors, a brushstroke of a highly warm and striking color is appreciated; Therefore, I think that good taste must always remain above and in balance against the vulgar, but the latter must never disappear if we want to appreciate the former.

According to the above, as far as this work is concerned, I have tried to apply the same philosophy in that in my opinion beauty is enhanced if the positive is combined to a fair degree with the negative, that is, the consonance with the dissonance, although in music both things are very subjective, since dissonance is also beautiful if it is well crafted.

Finally, I must say that I am satisfied with the result of this Symphony No. 4, since it responds to my initial approach of combining melodic parts with simple chords with other more complex harmonies that are not always well understood by non-specialized listeners, but that in Its whole responds perfectly to the consonance-dissonance binomial.

Si un compositor pudiera ser reconocido como genuinamente español, sin lugar a dudas uno de los principales candidatos sería Isaac Albéniz, uno de nuestros grandes compositores, que supo, como ningún otro, plasmar el auténtico sabor español en toda su obra.

Sus melodías son de una exquisitez imposible de describir con palabras; poseen una elegancia infinita e irradian a los cuatro vientos lo que en nuestro argot musical llamamos “duende”.

Sus grandes dotes como pianista quizá le indujeron a que toda su obra esté fundamentalmente escrita para piano a pesar de que también estaba grandemente dotado para la orquesta. En este sentido, han sido innumerables los músicos de infinidad de países que con mayor o menor fortuna han orquestado sus obras, a las que me sumo con esta aportación.

Esta obra, arreglada para Piano y Orquesta, consiste en un nuevo trabajo que trata de combinar la sutileza al piano del compositor y la dulzura de la melodía junto con las técnicas modernas de orquestación, añadiendo nuevos matices sin ninguna concesión a la pérdida de identidad de nuestro admirado compositor.

This work consists of a rhapsody compilation of various fragments of Spanish popular music, some of which are over 300 years old. Approximately, towards the middle of the 19th century it was assembled by Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka as a poetic tribute to the inhabitants of Madrid. Given its artistic quality, it has also been revised on different occasions, as did Rimski-Korsakov and Alexander Glazunov. Also, some of its parts being used in turn in other well-known works, such as in Intermediate of "The Wedding of Luis Alonso" of the great Gerónimo Giménez, who is about the wedding of the most famous dance teacher in the city of Cádiz.
Recently and modestly, this author together with his team of collaborators, we have made a new instrumental version entitled “Madrid” and another more sung version, this last dedicated to people who live in Madrid or they feel like they are from Madrid, whose title is: “El Motín de los Gatos ”given the nickname that the citizens of Madrid received for their ability to climb walls and escape Napoleon's forces after some warlike action in“ guerrilla ”mode back in 1808.

Aproximadamente, hacia la mitad del siglo XIX fue ensamblada por Mijaíl Ivánovich Glinka como homenaje en forma poética a los habitantes de Madrid. Dada su calidad artística, también ha sido revisada en distintas ocasiones, como hicieron Rimski-Korsakov y Alexander Glazunov, siendo algunas de sus partes utilizadas a su vez en otros trabajos muy conocidos, como en Intermedio de la “ La Boda de Luis Alonso” del gran Gerónimo Giménez, que trata sobre la boda del más famoso maestro de baile de la ciudad de Cádiz.
Reciente y modestamente, este autor junto con su equipo de colaboradores, hemos hecho una nueva versión instrumental titulada “Madrid” y otra versión más cantada, esta vez dedicada a las gentes que viven en Madrid o se sienten madrileños, cuyo título es: “El Motín de los Gatos” dado el apodo que recibieron los ciudadanos de Madrid por su habilidad para trepar muros y escapar de las fuerzas de Napoleón tras alguna acción bélica en modo “guerrilla” allá por el año 1808.

Symphony dedicated to the Sierra Morena; Mountain chain in the south of Spain with an impressive history and also legendary as a participant in countless legends. It is also the land of origin of the author of this Symphony.

This Movement II of the “Sierra Morena” Symphony is based, along with my contribution, on two very popular Flamenco Palos of great artistic beauty: "Guajira" and "Petenera". Their basic melodies are colossally precious, brought new life by joining a Symphony Orchestra.
For the development of this work, the fact that the two Palos alternate a 6/8 beat with a 3/4 beat has been a predominant factor when choosing such a set. The melodic possibilities of both are so notorious that Leonard Bernstein already used the basic rhythm of the Petenera in West Side Story, specifically in the song “América” where anyone with light notions of music can observe the secuence of 6/8 and 3/4 bars with total clarity.

Este Movimiento II de la Sinfonía “Sierra Morena” está basado, junto con mi aportación, en dos Palos Flamencos muy populares y de gran belleza artística: La Guajira y la Petenera. Sus melodías básicas son colosalmente preciosas, las cuales cobran nueva vida al unirse a una Orquesta Sinfónica. 
Para el desarrollo de esta obra, ha sido un factor predominante a la hora de elegir tal conjunto el hecho de que los dos Palos alternan un compás de 6/8 con uno de 3/4. Las posibilidades melódicas de ambos son tan notorias que ya Leonard Bernstein utilizó el ritmo básico de la Petenera en West Side Story, concretamente en la canción “América” donde cualquier persona con ligeras nociones de música puede observar con total claridad ambos compases de 6/8 y 3/4.

ART is a deeply human manifestation that, in addition to beauty, seeks the subtle side of things and as such does so from a subjective point of view. However, subjectivity is not a rarity, but something that when faced with the same thing, if not all, a large part of people can feel in the same way, since this is also an intelligent expression of feelings.

According to the above, a brief introduction about the ideas and feelings of the author during the development of this work, can illuminate to some extent the path taken in this work.

In the first bars, the strings represents a ship sailing through Atlantic waters just before entering the Strait of Gibraltar, a point at which the waters are often troubled by the junction of the Atlantic Ocean with the Mediterranean Sea. Once there, the flutes, oboe and clarinet with their jumping movements show their waters in a calm but playful environment. Upon passing this point, our ship approaches the coast of Morocco and heads for the port, which shows the Arabic strings with typical musical sequences of the area that welcome the art and influences of these wonderful Maghreb lands.

Travelers who will tour the Mediterranean countries, abandon ship and enter this land, whose melodies carefully treated throughout their journey represent the culture, wisdom and humanity of its people.

Arrived here, I leave the experience, the imaginative development and the adventures of these travelers to the imagination of the listeners, not without first showing a guiding example that marks the limits of the territories, as is the case of the measures of the Moroccan Anthem, that starting at minute 04:40, after its completion they mark the border and invite us to enter Algeria, which in the same way, through its popular music, will also show us the entry into Tunisia. The same happens with Libya, the country where this first movement ends, whose end, in a different musical style, places us in front of Egypt.

EL ARTE, es una manifestación profundamente humana que además de la belleza busca el lado sutil de las cosas y como tal lo hace bajo un punto de vista subjetivo. Sin embargo, la subjetividad no es rareza, sino algo que ante una misma cosa, si no todas, una gran parte de las personas puede sentir de igual manera, ya que ello es también una expresión inteligente de los sentimientos.

Según lo expuesto, una breve introducción sobre las ideas y sentimientos del autor durante el desarrollo de esta obra, puede iluminar en cierta medida el camino emprendido en este trabajo.

En los primeros compases, la cuerda representa a un barco navegando por aguas atlánticas justo en el momento previo a adentrarse en el estrecho de Gibraltar, punto en el que las aguas suelen estar revueltas por la unión del océano atlántico con el Mar Mediterráneo. Una vez allí, las flautas, oboe y clarinete con sus movimientos saltarines muestran sus aguas en un ambiente tranquilo pero juguetón. Al rebasar este punto, nuestro barco se aproxima a la costa de Marruecos y se dirige a puerto, lo que muestra la cuerda árabe con típicas secuencias musicales de la zona que dan la bienvenida al arte e influjos de estas maravillosas tierras del Magreb.

Los viajeros que recorrerán los países Mediterráneos, abandonan el barco y se adentran en esta tierra, cuyas melodías cuidadosamente tratadas a lo largo de su recorrido representan la cultura, sabiduría y humanidad de sus gentes.

Llegados aquí, dejo a la imaginación de los oyentes la experiencia, el desarrollo imaginativo y las peripecias de estos viajeros, no sin antes mostrar un ejemplo guía que marca los límites de los territorios, como es el caso de los compases del Himno de Marruecos, que comenzando en el minuto 04:40, tras su finalización marcan la frontera y nos invitan a entrar en Argelia, que de igual manera, mediante su música popular, también nos mostrará la entrada en Túnez. Lo mismo con Libia, donde finaliza este primer movimiento a las puertas de Egipto.

Voice by REZA RAHIMI, recorded in the music room of the Ali Qapu palace in Isfahan in Iran under the direction of ANA PERALTA. This work was sung live, in one go and without any other sound element than the camera microphone.

The illustration that accompanies this work is precisely the aforementioned music room of the Ali Qapu palace that can be seen in the video, without a doubt we are facing the grandeur of beauty, a colossal tribute to good taste that in addition, without forgetting its mission as a music room, it offers a very high technical level in terms of sound quality.

With minor adjustments, I have used in this work the same audio band that is observed in the video, since there is no other recording.

Musically speaking, this part begins just as we enter Egyptian territory, which suddenly shows us the first vestiges of its historical richness. As we move forward we enter an exciting world, where music is guessed in the air with ballerinas who give us sensual dances ...

A whole journey through this extraordinary country that we leave to the listener's imagination and resolve with a fragment of its National Anthem as a tribute to its cultural contribution to the world.

En nuestro viaje imaginario, al final del primer movimiento “Magreb” nos quedamos a las puertas de Egipto. Ahora, traspasamos esas puertas y nos adentramos en un territorio cuya historia milenaria es apasionante y llena de colorido.

Musicalmente hablando, esta parte comienza justo al entrar en territorio egipcio, que repentinamente nos muestra los primeros vestigios de su riqueza histórica. Al ir avanzando nos adentramos en un mundo apasionante, donde en el aire se adivina música con bailarinas que nos obsequian danzas sensuales…

Todo un recorrido a través de este extraordinario país que dejamos a la imaginación del oyente y resolvemos con un fragmento de su Himno Nacional como homenaje a su aportación cultural al mundo.

Egipto

Sinfonía 2 - Mov II - Parte A - Egipto

The story on which the composer has been based begins at dawn in a Phoenician port, where a lone merchant ship is preparing to set sail for Assyria, Mesopotamia.
The first bars reflect the melancholy of its crew as they leave their family environment and their land, always with the uncertainty of navigation safety. Next, the CELLO denotes that the moorings are released and the ship begins to move with the crew fixing their eyes on the city they are leaving behind; the VIOLIN together with the BASSOON show the smooth sailing towards the mouth of the port. The OBOES say goodbye to the placidity of their calm waters and the abrupt sound of the METALS indicates the exit to the open sea; the spiccato of the STRINGS shows a somewhat busier movement of the water, being the HARP the one that indicates the beginning of the Mediterranean cruise navigation. The CELLO again reflects the gazes of the sailors ashore and from here the TIMPANIS and BASSES in a slow waltz rhythm accompany the rocking of the ship that occurs as it advances between the waves ... The final measures indicate the approach to land and, obviously, the final chord with a different color, the arrival.

La historia en la que se ha basado el compositor comienza al despuntar el alba en un puerto Fenicio, donde un solitario barco mercante se dispone a zarpar con rumbo a Asiria, Mesopotamia. Los primeros compases reflejan la melancolía de sus tripulantes al abandonar su entorno familiar y su tierra, siempre con la incertidumbre de la seguridad en la navegación.
A continuación el VIOLONCELLO denota que se sueltan amarras y el barco comienza a moverse con la tripulación fijando la vista en la ciudad que van dejando atrás; el VIOLÍN junto al FAGOT muestran la suave navegación hacia la bocana del puerto. Los OBOES despiden la placidez de sus tranquilas aguas y el sonido brusco de los METALES indica la salida a mar abierto; el spiccato de la CUERDA evidencia un movimiento algo más ajetreado del agua, siendo el ARPA quien indica el inicio de la navegación de crucero por el Mediterráneo. El CELLO nuevamente refleja las miradas a tierra de la marinería y a partir de aquí los TIMBALES y CONTRABAJOS en ritmo de Vals lento acompasan el balanceo del barco que se produce al ir avanzando entre las olas… Los compases finales indican la aproximación a tierra y, obviamente, el acorde final con un color distinto, la llegada.

We are in Constantinople in the year 1453, when it still belonged to the Byzantine Empire and very close to its subsequent fall at the hands of the Ottomans.
The music begins with a western orchestral style that alternates and blends with different Arab modes as events unfold, until it ends in the conquest of the city by the Turks. The end is conceived as a transition between two cultures, where the spiccatos of the strings show the imminent entry of the enemy troops followed by an atmosphere of great sadness in its inhabitants for the loss of the city, which also marked the end of the Roman and Middle Ages, thus beginning the Modern age.

Nos encontramos en Constantinopla en el año 1453, cuando aún pertenecía al imperio bizantino y muy cerca de su posterior caída a manos de los otomanos.
La música comienza con un estilo orquestal occidental que se va alternando y fundiendo con distintos modos árabes a medida que van sucediendo acontecimientos, hasta desembocar en la conquista de la ciudad por los turcos. El final, está concebido como una transición entre dos culturas, donde los spiccatos de la cuerda muestran la inminente entrada de la tropas enemigas seguidos de un ambiente de gran tristeza en sus habitantes por la pérdida de la ciudad, que también marcó el final del imperio romano y de la Edad Media, comenzando así la edad Moderna.
