My interest in audio composition always involved sampling (detournament), even before the technique came into wide use. I like to see how far identifiable musical elements can be pushed within the form of a 'pop' song and still retain that form. Elements of meter , pitch and related dynamics are favorite subjects for experimentation. I take special interest in the manipulation and processing of language elements, intentionally provoking the listener to matrix interesting lyrical content out of vocal elements left intentionally vague or puzzling.I did, in years past, play bass guitar as a traveling musician and as a studio musician.I have retained a small audio production studio for some time and have cranked out radio commercials and done Demo recordings of numerous and sundry local artists, giving me access to contributors and participants in my own projects.  I'm based in a literate background but am working with a universe of image and direct experience which obsolesces my left-brain cognition and mediates my right-brain subconscious identity and it's formless violence as well as it's formless empathy. I work with 'traditional' musical instruments as well as analog electronics and the numerous  VST based digital audio processing environments utilizing samples of conversations as well detourned clips from existing media artifacts along with original elements. If all of that sounds boring, then I find it a matter of interest (I might quite possibly even find it alarming) that you've gone to the effort of reading this far into my self-referential and possibly delusional description of something as intangible and subjective as my 'serious' Avaunt Guard sound compositions.  You are curious. The intended audience is anyone who'll listen. You're just the kind of person I had in mind when I composed this music.

R.C. kicked off around, 93' ...recordings were made in random places around the house and mixed in a home made basement studio, using an X15 Fostex Four Track Porta-Studio, and mixer... there was lots of, tape sampling/editing, field recordings and FX going on... was all about, experimentation... today, the creative processes are similar... just, a whole bunch better toys to play with!
