Shawn Ryan is a DJ and music lover living in Philadelphia. With over a decade of experience, he is best known for his range and depth where music is concerned, an expert distiller of time and place.

Shawn is a co-founder of @UniversalCave, a record label that specializes in resurrecting hidden gems of the past. Their debut release, Universal Cave's own "Around The Bend" edit was one of Juno Records best selling releases in 2014 and received support around the globe. The label has released edits from Jaz, Selvagem, Robotique and more.

Shawn Ryan is also one half of @Superprince1, best known for their lovingly reinforced disco edits and often arpeggiated house tracks. Their debut 12" will be out on Razor-N-Tape later in 2016.

Since 2007, Shawn has been running www.dollarbinjams.com, a blog dedicated to preserving vinyl obscurities in the digital age.

For our final podcast of summer, we’re delighted to welcome our favourite Croatian music mistro Ilija Rudman. And what a perfect fit he is. Supported by well over a decade of experience working with some of the biggest names in the game, his back catalogue of releases is as extensive as it is tasteful. His releases on Nu Northern Soul, Is it Balearic?, and Rong Music are the first to spring to mind for us, not to mention releases on his own label Imogen Recordings. 

The mix acts as a smorgasbord of Ilija’s musical interests, offering up some delicious rare disco cuts, Balearic beats, analogue housey numbers and everything in between. An Adriatic breeze wafting through your lugholes, what a perfect way to close the summer season.

The debut from the Pleasure of Love mix series, NEW ISLANDS.  For our first one we're happy to have renowned LA record collector Ragz on board.  His depth of knowledge on Italo and groove-based Indian music is, to put it lightly, impressive.  A regular guest DJ at Heat-Wave and Pleasure of Love parties, Ragz has turned us all onto many records.  Here's a description of the mix he's put together for us-

"When I was pulling records for this mix I was looking for something to get my head out of lockdown and an escape to those carefree summers of yore. This mix is a bit of an ode to that. A couple of my big favs on here are Lucia’s Que Belleza – a Spanish inspired Italo balearic banger that everyone should own, J.M. Black’s Lipstick (Shout !) – silky smooth French boogie about amorous dodginess in the corner of a Manhattan bar, Club Band’s Club Is My Passion – Italo 7” private press goodness, Nick Carr’s Mambo – taken from his self-titled album and an underrated Greek electronic/synth-pop masterpiece, and finally La Cie Créole’s La Nuit Des Requins – the Zouk closer."
