Almost to the day, a year ago the brilliant solo debut album by Alex Barck, „Reunion“, was released and caused quite a stir amongst the fans of sophisticated and boundaries- exploring dance music. A buzz lasting to this day, only considering all the different remixes that came out over the last twelve months. You can find them now, fourteen in number, nicely assembled in this digital release package. The ten reworks already officially released are joined by another four exclusive remixes, which haven't been available so far.

First of all we'd like to put a spotlight on the extraordinaire works by Ada (for “Doubter”), Kalabrese (for “We Get High”) and ComixXx (“Like A Drug”). Three remixes operating at the intersections of house, pop and leftfield you can't classify, and therefore influencing the sound of 2014. Even a lick more unorthodox come in the remixes by VECT, Full Crate and Mao. This is refreshing club music, somewhere between deep house and the sinister reincarnation of RnB.

But now let's shift the attention to the four remixes, which you don't know yet: Ronni Vindahl from Copenhagen goes one step further and turns „Move Slowly“ into a proper Soul-Funk track, including horns and guitars. This is as cheerful as it ever can be!

The two Berlin based producers Chopstick & Johnjon have a go at „Spinning Around“ and club the arrangement straight to the peak time of the (imaginary) best dance floor in the world. Captivating as well with the current sound of Berlin, one half of Âme, Frank Wiedemann does a mesmerizing job in remixing „Oh Africa“. Two times absolute world class and highest warranty for dance floor frenzy. London's Alex Patchwork, on the other hand, dismantles „Doubter“ in a fashion that only Jonatan Bäckelie's voice remains to be the single fundamental element floating on a fascinating, sentimental sea of futuristic sounds. Music for the morning after.

„Reunion Remixed“ is not just paying tribute to the infinite talent of Alex Barck, but is also a chronicle of all the prevailing trends and tendencies of current club music – be it in Berlin's underground clubs or on your headphones.

Hot on the heels of his recent groundbreaking Fabric 64 compilation, Supplement Facts bossman Guy Gerber is now ready to get "Steady" with a brand new EP and worldwide tour.

Acclaimed photographer Martin Zalba Ibáñez has been tapped to provide a new series of B&W photos for the iconic Supplement Facts covers. The first one can be seen on Gerber's first release on his own Supplement Facts label in almost two years, which sees him pairing with dOP frontman Jaw for 'Steady,' a melodic track filled with soaring synth lines, Guy's emotional bass guitar chords, and Jaw's incredibly performance featuring his trademark eerie, distorted vocals.

Rounding out the release is a beefed up Midland remix of Steady - perfect for peak time dance floor destroying. The vinyl B- side is a re-edit of the Golden Sun & the Silver Moon, a dreamy standout track off of the Fabric compilation (and Guy's alternate name for the Fabric mix itself) featuring vocals by Clarion North of Footprintz (look for their upcoming album on Visionquest soon).

vi•sion quest (noun): a search for personal communication with the spirit world. 

Every mystical journey eventually comes to a fork in the road. The seeker of life’s destiny has two options: remain satisfied with whatever level of consciousness he has already attained, or push forward into ever-new domains of promise and possibility. 2014 sees dance music’s best-known spiritual pilgrims, the Visionquest trio of Ryan Crosson, Lee Curtiss, and Shaun Reeves, bravely embarking upon that wondrous journey. Each member of this celebrated DJing and production team contributes a distinct yet interlocking vision that together forms a seamless, organic whole. Just think of Crosson’s enthusiastic shuffle, Lee’s soulful stare, Shaun’s soft touch. Everything they craft has the same unmistakable flair: slow-burning, shape-shifting, expansive techno and house marked by compositional elegance and unabashed pop hooks.

Although long-time partner and co-conspirator Seth Troxler has stepped aside to pursue other projects, 2013 was the biggest year ever for the four. Inspired by the passing of the Mayan calendar, the group embarked upon Visionquest 13, 13 dates where the boys not only played together the whole night, but curated a true multimedia experience. From London to Buenos Aires, from the American hinterland to the Chilean wilderness, Visionquest 13 was a Freudian trip into the deepest recesses of the Detroit rave unconscious, what Ibiza Voice described as a “collective expedition into the depths of your soul”—but with a sophisticated, modern twist.

Their accomplishments are well-known and too many to list. For starters: a critically acclaimed 2011 Fabric mix; year-defining hit remixes for artists as diverse as Kiki, Wareika, Tracey Thorn, and David Lynch; showcases and dates in the biggest clubs and festivals around the world; and the creation of a now iconic-label that’s played host to dancefloor weaponry from the likes of Benoit & Sergio, Life & Death, Dinky, and Laura Jones—all this while each member maintained significant individual production and DJ careers. But, by definition, no journey dwells in the past. So in 2014 they launched Visionquest Special Editions, a limited-release, vinyl only label. Evoking the experimental sounds of the European techno avant-garde that first inspired the boys back in Detroit, the debut release, remixes of Montreal songwriter Quilla, features a stunning collaboration between Shaun and long-time hero Ricardo Villalobos. With Visionquest Special Editions we see the group at home at a breezy, gentle afterparty, not just igniting the club. As Visionquest winds around the corner into their bright future, they remain open and excited for what lies ahead.
