For their final release of 2018, Planet E present DJ Deep & Traumer's remixes of Klauss & Craig, the collaboration between Argentinian synth ensemble Klauss and Carl Craig, which debuted with the ‘Momentum’ EP earlier in the year.
 
Out November 30th, the three-track remix EP’s origins were as a pair of spec mixes by DJ Deep (Cyril Etienne) and his regular collaborator Roman Poncet aka Traumer.  The duo found inspiration from the original Klauss & Craig EP that led to spontaneous experiments on their own remixes.  

Soon a trio of versions emerged, with two by the duo together, and an additional solo mix by Poncet under his Traumer alias. Etienne sent their work to Craig, who immediately decided to give them their own release on Planet E, in turn helping Etienne achieve one of his own dreams to release on the legendary Detroit label.

Weaving intricate percussive themes with analogue melodies they deliver two takes on ‘Repeat After Me’  - ‘Free Your Mind’ and ‘Free Your Soul’ - before Traumer, inspired by the process,  goes on his own for the final track ‘Repeat After Me - Reduced Mind’, creating undulating bass loops which glide under warm pads.

Lyra is DeWaltas fourth large project and third full-length album following Wander in 2012 (on Haunt), llumination in 2014 (on Meander) and Dark Matter in 2017 (on Amphia).

The album consists of two individually available parts: a double LP (Lyra) with 6 tracks on Meander as well as a single LP (Lyra Pi) with 5 synth and ambient works. The Ambient-Part launches a new Meander Horizon Pi series-- a departure from Meander’s well known dancefloor releases.

Lyra is by far DeWaltas most extensive and refined project to date. With 11 exclusive songs, a total running time of over 100 minutes - plus a collaboration with long time friend and Meander co-owner Fabian Geimer-Lorusso aka. Jupiter - it marks a new beginning of ambient and score-like modern works as well as the continuation of his inspired intellectual-emotional approach to dance music.

Lyra is a star-constellation in the northern hemisphere which is highest in the midnight sky in the early summer months. It contains one of the brightest stars in the sky - Vega. Many of the songs on this album were produced in these warm and gentle months during an inspirational creative time in Portugal.

In Greek mythology, Lyra represents the Lyre of Orpheus, Apollo’s son. Made by Hermes from a tortoise-shell, it was given to Apollo who then passed it along to Orpheus. It is said to be the first music instrument ever made.

DeWalta - Vega (MEANDER 25)

Naissance Musik delivers its third release this November, a carefully curated remix package of label founder HEAR, and his collaboration with Hakim Murphy as Dream Scoring. Featuring four peak-time reworks and dance floor bombs from Wareika, Amir Alexander, Yard One and Nesta.

Berlin-based producer and DJ, HEAR, launched the Naissance Musik imprint in 2016 with Dream Scoring. 2017 then saw HEAR join forces with San Proper for their ‘Elephantoms’ EP and here we see the label return to fine form with four dance floor focused remixes, enlisting a selection of friends and some of the label owner’s favourite producers right now to rework the imprint’s debut EP.

German Perlon trio Wareika lead with their ‘Moon Aligned Remix’ of ‘Motion Currents’, a twelve- minute journey of psychedelic guitar licks, acid bass and re-sung vocals from the original composition while raw, intricate percussion adds the dance floor flair throughout. Chicago’s Amir Alexander steps up next with his ‘Gritty City Refix’ take on ‘Story Catcher’, laying down dusty drums, gritty analogue synths, wobbly bass lines and cinematic strings to create a raw peak-time work.

Tact Recordings co-founders Yard One deliver their ‘Lucid Dreamshape’ version of ‘Blowed Out’ next with floating pads and shuffled pops and clicks floating amongst the original’s heady guitar licks and billowing synth sounds, again a perfect DJ tool for the evolving set. Fantome De Nuit’s Nesta tackles ‘Silhouette’ next to close the release in an epic way, taking things deeper but still with a nod to to the dance floor via plucked metallic hits, modulating percussion and heady atmospherics.

vi•sion quest (noun): a search for personal communication with the spirit world. 

Every mystical journey eventually comes to a fork in the road. The seeker of life’s destiny has two options: remain satisfied with whatever level of consciousness he has already attained, or push forward into ever-new domains of promise and possibility. 2014 sees dance music’s best-known spiritual pilgrims, the Visionquest trio of Ryan Crosson, Lee Curtiss, and Shaun Reeves, bravely embarking upon that wondrous journey. Each member of this celebrated DJing and production team contributes a distinct yet interlocking vision that together forms a seamless, organic whole. Just think of Crosson’s enthusiastic shuffle, Lee’s soulful stare, Shaun’s soft touch. Everything they craft has the same unmistakable flair: slow-burning, shape-shifting, expansive techno and house marked by compositional elegance and unabashed pop hooks.

Although long-time partner and co-conspirator Seth Troxler has stepped aside to pursue other projects, 2013 was the biggest year ever for the four. Inspired by the passing of the Mayan calendar, the group embarked upon Visionquest 13, 13 dates where the boys not only played together the whole night, but curated a true multimedia experience. From London to Buenos Aires, from the American hinterland to the Chilean wilderness, Visionquest 13 was a Freudian trip into the deepest recesses of the Detroit rave unconscious, what Ibiza Voice described as a “collective expedition into the depths of your soul”—but with a sophisticated, modern twist.

Their accomplishments are well-known and too many to list. For starters: a critically acclaimed 2011 Fabric mix; year-defining hit remixes for artists as diverse as Kiki, Wareika, Tracey Thorn, and David Lynch; showcases and dates in the biggest clubs and festivals around the world; and the creation of a now iconic-label that’s played host to dancefloor weaponry from the likes of Benoit & Sergio, Life & Death, Dinky, and Laura Jones—all this while each member maintained significant individual production and DJ careers. But, by definition, no journey dwells in the past. So in 2014 they launched Visionquest Special Editions, a limited-release, vinyl only label. Evoking the experimental sounds of the European techno avant-garde that first inspired the boys back in Detroit, the debut release, remixes of Montreal songwriter Quilla, features a stunning collaboration between Shaun and long-time hero Ricardo Villalobos. With Visionquest Special Editions we see the group at home at a breezy, gentle afterparty, not just igniting the club. As Visionquest winds around the corner into their bright future, they remain open and excited for what lies ahead.
