Inspired by time spent as a resident bathhouse DJ at Steamworks Baths in Toronto - as well as his involvement with queer communities at large - Pleasure Dome appeals to a dark, sensual nature, exploring the dynamics of modern sex culture with an almost voyeuristic viewpoint. Drawing upon notions of love that can be emotionally distant but deeply sexual, Callum’s productions here lean into both subtle sonic detailings and maximal effects that speak to all kinds of sensorial response. Guiding the EP are Callum’s own vocals, delivered in a seductive yet detached manner, as if the narrator is both part of and outside the experience.

Opening the proceedings, the title track gently expands from a distant acid loop, driven forward by a tripped out robotic voice over pummelling hammer bass. ‘Seductor’ heightens the tension with a faster, bouncing cut of echoing bells and buoyant percussion. Heading into a more explosive realm, ‘Welcome To Nu Rave’ features euphoric builds that rise and fall over pounding drums. ‘Come to Play’ keeps the peaktime energy rolling with industrial leads and playful lasers. Closing things off is ‘Dangerous Obsession’, a headspin of distorted percussive effects and pitch bendi

Pleasure Dome reflects on underrepresented aspects of queer culture, documenting the experience of a bathhouse in all of its allures and contradictions.

Plastician Presents - The Wave Pool MMXV

In 2015 a style of music came to light that was seemingly spawned out of Soundcloud. This sound is something created by producers with an ear for emotive, ethereal soundscapes, often drawing influence from rap productions. As big as the basslines are on much of the tracks in this mix, it's apparent that a lot of these songs are not built with the club in mind. With producers as young as 14 in this mix, it's pretty easy to see why that would be the case given many of them have never stepped foot inside a nightclub. 
In 2015 it's easier to get hold of a copy of FL Studio or Ableton than it is to get your hands on a set of CDJ's, so not only are many of these tracks not built for the club, many of them are not built with the DJ in mind either. Intros with odd numbers of beats, and even intros with filter rises all the way to the drop are not uncommon. But as awkward as it can be to physically mix these tracks without the aid of pre planned ableton sessions or some form of bpm locking, it is a sound that cries out to be recognised on a global scale, away from the comfort of Soundcloud, and therefore has really grabbed my attention in the past 18 months. 
I put this mix together to highlight some of the amazing talents and tracks that I've managed to pick up mostly on Soundcloud or on Bandcamp. This is a truly independent movement far removed from the mainstream music moguls. It is music built in the purest of senses. I present this mix to you in hope of opening your ears to some of the most exciting producers I've come across sprawling Soundcloud on the hunt for raw talent.

Hailing from the great Pacific Northwest, Chris Petersen aka Pacific Patterns, has taken the Portland dance music scene to a new level. Fusing modern electronic music culture with the beauty of nature, Chris aims to cultivate a journey of friendly sounds for his audience to enjoy.

Working with the Sublimate crew, Chris has released the first track on the label titled “Clouds”. This release caught the attention of many, procuring releases on “Tenth Degree” compilations, and Phuture Collective’s “Nature” compilation.

Currently, you can find Chris as a resident DJ at FAK Wednesdays in Portland, Sublimate events in Portland, Alaya in Los Angeles and his monthly event at Portland’s own “Ground Kontrol”. 
Pacific Patterns has shared the stage with bass music heavy hitters like Stooki Sound, Sweater Beats, Losco, Champagne Drip, VNDMG, 6BLOCC, DJ Spinn, Doshy, Eliot Lipp, Gladkill, Ethan Glass, Chase Manhattan, Intellitard, Stelouse, Snubluck, Eastghost, Gang$ign$ and Electric Mantis.

A big part of that musical vision was our influences from the origins of Electro music - from the original Electro Pop pioneers Kraftwerk and Yello to more experimental laboratories of Raymond Scott, Tomita, Wendy Carlos and the BBC Radiophonic workshop. We also loved the next wave of Electro from Detroit brought by Juan Atkins and Cybotron. All the early 20/20 Vision output was produced at Farmhouse Studios by Carl Finlow, who went on to record as Random Factor, Voice Stealer and Silicon Scally. Now that output is regarded as classic Electro. It now seems like a great moment again to dive back into the deep and find the next generation of electro artists…

Welcome Chris Roman aka 214 with the 'Ingalls Way’, a record filled with the kind of creativity and production skills we have become accustomed to with his music over the years. After previous outings on electro institutions Frustrated Funk and Central Processing Unit, 214 now appears for the first time on 20/20 Vision. On remix duties we have none other than Keith Tenniswood aka Radioactive Man, who also makes his first appearance on the label. Along with his work as Two Lone Swordsmen with Andrew Weatherall, Keith and his Radioactive output is generally regarded in the upper echelons of British electronic music and we’re really excited to have him feature on the label.
