Leathery blooms balloon before you, gargantuan in size and coated in a viscous ichor that seeps slowly from their pores and wafts gently to the ground in oozing droplets amidst the low gravity of this planetoid’s atmosphere. Upon the earth stained by this acrid fluid another fungus springs to life, spreading forth in fractal patterns composed of a multitude of microscopic cells. From the edges of this organism emanates a faint sibilant sound, resultant of its consumption of minerals from the rocky ground below. 

Over millennia, it seems that these strange processes of life have carved great canyons into the landscape that stretches into the distance. As you peer into the background of the portal presented by the Vision Serpent, tiny veins of pristine blue waters glisten gently under the light of the planetoid’s dim sun, presenting a much more hospitable clime than that which surrounds the portal’s exit. Shall you step through to the other side, braving this alien world to seek the wonders promised amidst its distant cerulean streams?

8KICKS brings his latest single SAME THING to VISION SERPENT, delivering two original tracks and a remix by Reclaim & Uddhav through the label’s sonic portal. SAME THING’s swooping bassline dominates the listener's ears as a vocal sample narrates a mystical experience, whilst its accompanying remix by Reclaim & Uddhav imbues the track with a sense of frenetic urgency. MOVING then closes the single, marching into the unknown in time with the steady snap of its snare drum. Draped in sullen shadow, the city before you stands in a silent vigil for its own ruin. The grandiose spires that once composed its monumental skyline are tattered and torn, their sleek forms now cutting jagged silhouettes into the last rays of the setting sun. Points of gentle orange light flicker within their eroded skeletons, emanating from the fires and lanterns of those who still call this dilapidated metropolis their home. 

What once was a place of glamour now lies forgotten in ruin, and yet here it is that the VISION SERPENT’s portal has led you to. What secrets might lie forgotten in the shadow, what knowledge might those who dwell within still hold, and what wealth is to be found still glittering in the flickering flames? “Delve deep”, commands the serpent’s telepathic voice in your brain, “and find what was lost upon the IMPACT”.

MONOCOC makes his debut on VISION SERPENT with IMPACT, a single that delivers all of the sonic energy so promised by its name. The kick drums of the single’s titular A-side burst into being amidst a cavernous sonic atmosphere, whilst its B-side “Energy” is set to similarly galvanize the dancefloor with its staccato synth stabs and cascading delay lines. Together, MONOCOC presents this twin pairing as a masterful medley of scintillant techno, which finds a perfect home with VISE008.

Before you lie a landscape marked by monumental topography, a cacophony of mesas, sheer cliffs, and ravines that tumble almost instantaneously into each other. A world aeons older than your own, the pervasive natural forces of the universe have sculpted it into a masterpiece of flora and stone. From the cliffsides cascade an endless ecosystem of epiphytic vines, grasping gracefully onto the knurled surface of the exposed sandstone. Far below, the rainwater that runs filtered through the mountainsides gathers in cerulean pools in the depths of the ravines, which glisten gently in the light of the few rays of sunlight that reach their surfaces. 

What new life might lurk hidden amidst these crevasses, striding upon the sandstone or soaring above it? Coiled around the portal, the VISION SERPENT now promises an elder knowledge, something long lost yet intrinsically tied to all that surrounds you, something that can be found only amidst the bounties of this lush and beautiful land.

YVC make their VISION SERPENT debut with PIECE OF MIND, a single that features a pair of remixes from 8Kicks & Krypta. The title track’s determined bassline rolls out beneath an assortment of glitched sonic fragments that flit about within its darkened atmosphere, with  8kick’s remix redefining the low-end motion and incorporating a mysterious melodic motif. This is followed by WHEN IT COMES, the single’s B-side from YVC which thrums with galvanic tonalities that emanate from its driving rhythmic core. Krypta’s remix closes the EP by rerouting these tonal currents, folding them back on themselves for an expertly warped take on the original track.
