Creatures of the Rave is a poem about the temptation, atmosphere and thrill of underground raves. It is a first-person narrative account following the arc of one night’s raving, the anticipation beforehand, the rush at its peak and the come down of its closure. The poem aims to uncover what happens at an illegal rave, an unregulated intervention into often discarded public space that can somehow simultaneously be a thing of stigma and status.

Vispera has been performing words since her mid teens. Hailing from Manchester, she developed her voice through spoken word, slam poetry and creative writing. The last year has seen her emerge into the Drum and Bass scene and narrate the rave space with her visceral, poetic MCing style. 

Performing regularly up and down the country, Vispera is making a name for self as a talented and respected MC, hosting sets across the spectrum of bass genres, resident for Phase Records DNB, Sisterhood Birmingham and Off The Record 0161. Additionally, Vispera is also set to emerge as a distinct and versatile recording artist, with upcoming releases on Trust Audio and Phase Records DNB, plus her debut EP dropping Autumn 2024.
