"This mix is heavily inspired by the oldskool garage and groovy techno sounds floating around Bay Area raves currently (that have me moving all night long) It reaches back in time and pulls out the bassy thumping garage house sound coming from UK labels like Nice n' Ripe + Ice Cream Records, as well as the hard groovy techno of UK label Primevil through the late 90s. This mix intends to be a full fledged odyssey into my taste in dance tunes; a synthesis of house, garage, and techno. Endurance is key with these grooves! Think of it like a tour of my solar system of sound. Oakland-based selector Clearcast is one to watch. Leaning heavily into internet electronica and tenebrous UK Bass, the artist’s sets often lie at the intersection between breakbeat bangers and introspective euphoria, with dreamy soundscapes and bright melodies pulled from left-field and experimental dance music.

"Assembling this 100% production supplement was one of the greatest challenges and opportunities for growth I’ve experienced so far as both a DJ and producer. Working with this constraint provided a much smaller pool of music to choose from, and I enjoyed every moment of diving into old project files, breaking these tunes down to their building blocks, and gluing them back together for this mix of nearly 80% unreleased material. Incredibly grateful to the Pure Sound team for making the space, and to all the collaborators who made these tunes possible."

San Francisco-based Vertigo draws in crowds with her percussive bass lines, glitchy textures, dub-inspired melodies, and eerie synth leads. As a member of the Vitamin1000 Energy Crew, Vertigo never fails to deliver an eclectic synergy of techno, electro, and breaks. She brings the momentum of her live shows onto her monthly Fault Radio residency, MOTION SICKNESS, as well as streams on The Lot Radio, SF-based HydeFM, and Oakland-based Lower Grand Radio. Vertigo has supported notable DJs that include DJ Stingray, Overmono, LCY, Toma Kami, X Club, and X-Coast.

"I’ve been really drawn to the 2000s electro and breaks sound lately, while also listening to techno with a lot of trance and dub elements. I tried to combine those and create a mix that traverses all these sounds, and while it has its high energy moments, some of my favorite moments are the more spacious and melodic blends. This really pushed me to bring all my new influences together with old classics to capture the lighter side of how my sound has grown over the last year since my first supplement. "

As a DJ, Austin found his footing in the nebulous space between groovy, psychedelic, bass, & techno. Never quite satisfied, he continually reinvents, explores new styles, and finds those connections between generations of dance music. 

After the pandemic, Austin took a one-off party he did called Routine and turned it into a monthly event. In 2023, Austin moved Routine to Substation, a larger, but underused venue for underground dance music. Since then, Routine has become one of Seattle's finest importers of national and international talent.

"Lately I've been inspired by folks like Jonny From Space, Polygonia, Tammo Hesselink and the newest Rhyw EP, "Mister Melt." I've been feeling a bit nostalgic lately, so I've been listening to a few Older Nicolas Jaar/Against All Odds records and Deftones. The best setting to listen to this mix is whenever your peak energy levels are or on a joy ride with the sound turned UP."

As a member of up and coming Bay Area DJ collective Vitamin1000, bad juuju takes inspiration from the raw uninhibited and experimental energy of underground raves and smuggles it into the club scene.
