After a short break, I'm back on track with the Homemade House series and I'd  like to introduce you to my new guest - TIMOCIOUS - 

Hailing from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Timocious — a nickname bestowed upon him by his grandfather — is a passionate purveyor of underground house music. With a style deeply rooted in everything from deep and jackin' house to jazzy, techy, soulful, and even the occasional acid-infused track, Timocious is dedicated to taking his audience on an immersive journey through the underground, always seeking that undeniable magic in the mix.

Timocious's journey into the world of DJing began as many do: with an insatiable curiosity and a persistent spirit. Early on, he'd pester his brother's DJ friends for time on their gear, even experimenting with a basic Radio Shack mixer, CD players lacking pitch control, and a turntable with minimal range. His formal training? A memorable two-minute crash course from a fed-up friend who "couldn't stand the tennis balls in the dryer anymore!"
The real turning point came when Timocious and his best friend (now brother-in-law) each invested in a Technics SL-1200 turntable. From then on, it was non-stop mixing, with frequent trips to Toronto for parties and record shopping becoming the highlights of their lives.

While his musical palette growing up was broad, encompassing everything from The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd to Genesis, classical music, 80s pop, and 90s alternative, Timocious found his true calling in house music. The legendary sounds of Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, and DJ Sneak became, and remain, monumental influences on his distinctive style.

Last things first :) - Presenting the closing set from Trropical 27- Year Anniversary Hot Tub Oasis Retreat, recorded 10 PM to Midnight on Sunday night, closing all the music at our event <3

It was a very intense event with a huge downpour in the middle followed by a double rainbow, ao many beautiful moments and one tragic one.

But here we celebrate life and house music with old school Tropical resident DJ Dazy's digital comeback - first time ever to play a digital sat at Tropical, having pretty much exiting DJing with motherhood 20 years ago in 2005.

Dazy played the second -ever Tropical event, (rescheduled from December 1998 to May 1999) was the first female DJ to play at Tropical, instantly becoming resident DJ, playing almost all the Tropical warehouse parties and some boat parties too.

Tropical founder Ben Annand had been nagging Dazy for years to make the digital transition  - and it finally happened in 2025!

Chunky house beats, deep disco vibes and fun vocals characterize this set. - Hope you love it as much as we do!

Founded in early 1998, the goal was to consistently put out records that would be loved and played by many in the house music community. Viva Recordings found success with its first debut from Johnny Fiasco and the with Rick Preston's Altruism EP, which gained notoriety when "Spring Fling" was featured on Mark Farina's San Francisco Sessions Vol.1. From these early releases the road was paved for Viva Recordings' success. Over the last few years we have been working on personal projects but now have decided to bring the label back and take the Viva name back.
