Phil Gerus first burst into our eardrums about half a year ago with such a sexy, dissipated sound, it was almost impossible not to take notice. Here we are, six months and one Yeezus album later, happily presenting to you our seventy-sixth Truancy Volume from a man responsible for bringing back those those sensual 80's vibes with tunes that are absolutely brimming with rhythm and funk. Phil has had what seems to be a rather impressive year; after self-published tunes like 'Milk and Honey' on Fused Lab and 'Ordinary Things' on Rhymast achieved high levels of love, the release of a six track EP was literally music to our ears. His 'Based On Misunderstandings' EP on Sonar Kollektiv showed such smooth production and oozed with such sex appeal, it was commendable to see his follow up EP, 'Rainy On The Brightside', live up to the previous one. Gerus tells us of how he spends days in search of "sexy harmonies", as he calls them, and of his Truancy Volume, that captures the “crazy nights and lazy days” mood. Presenting to us a mix that draws from his deep-running musical background influenced by all the Jazz greats, Phil Gerus has created a Volume so nostalgic and easy to listen to, we challenge you not to become as enamored with him as we are.

We don’t know what they are putting in the water in Russia at the moment but we’d like to know where we could get some, as the slavic nation seems to be exporting more and more high quality music from across the electronic spectrum.

At the forefront of the of this invasion from the east has been Moscow producer Phil Gerus, who after grabbing our attention with a series of strong dance floor orientated releases over the past few years for the likes of ManMakeMusic, Sonar Kollektiv and MadTech returned to production fold with the release of the 'Now Is Gone' EP last month. 
Arriving via Futureboogie, the EP sees the genre hopping Russian musician serve up four funk fuelled dance floor numbers for a release we've been unable to get out of our heads or off of our playlists. In celebration, the inimitable Mr. Gerus offered us up an exclusive mix, and we just couldn't say no!

Trained in classical piano and heavily influenced by his parents’ musical tastes which included jazz records from the likes of Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans,and Keith Jarrett, Phil's eclectic approach to DJing has seen him pick up bookings all around the globe, touching down at various electronic hotspots to showcase his talents. Some say you are born with it, a groove that is. Phil Gerus is a producer and disc jockey from Moscow with a penchant for disco, house and funk. A classically trained pianist he was raised with music in his soul and has sinced developed a love for the productuion of dancefloor delight and a wide ranging musical odyssey. A relative newcomer he has received wide scale support from a variety of labels and has been supported by the likes of Tensnake, Marcel Vogel, Tom Noble and George Fitzgerald. 

Between obscure samples, disco glory, golden house cuts and raucous edits he has quickly established himself as one of the most interesting producers to emerge from Russia in recent years.
