Analog Sessions 008

This weekend we have a pleasure to share set from Hussaf, who is an atypical case in the musical field and in the world of DJing because not being himself a professional DJ working and living from music.
Born in 1963 in Senegal, Senegalese and originally from Lebanon, he spent his adolescence in West Africa (Senegal and Ivory Coast) before leaving to live for two years in Lebanon, his country of origin, which he left in 1976 following the civil war.
In 1976 he returned to his African roots in Senegal where he lived and studied and continued his professional life in business far and outside the musical world.
The music that has always accompanied him was and is above all a passion and a hobby that Hussaf has always shared intimately with friends away from social networks and the stages until the COVID 19 crisis and the confinements, where the need to share was felt.
His musical universe is borderless due to his origins and the many trips he will make around the world, but we will always find his preferences and this mixture of African and Eastern sound influences in all genres and musical styles like "Organic, Ethnic, Electronic, Downtempo or Deep & Afro House.

Release Info: 
A seasoned producer and DJ with deep roots in electronic music since the ‘90s, TH;EN has built a reputation for his emotive and melodic approach to techno. Recent highlights include ‘Rakata’, ‘Touch Me’ with Massano and Carlo Whale, and ‘Inside Your Mind’ with Innellea and Carlo Whale. Meanwhile, his music has appeared on labels including Tomorrowland Music, Diynamic, Simulate, and Zamna, earning support from the likes of Anyma, Massano, Kevin de Vries, Konstantin Sibold, ANNA, CamelPhat, and Stephan Bodzin.

His debut contribution to Truesoul is a head-turner. ‘Lucid Ashes’ brings together elements of progressive, psy, electro and trance, for a kaleidoscopic dancefloor trip that’s begging to played at an outdoor party. ‘Eclipse Bloom’ continues in a similarly thematic vein, marked by flowering arpeggios, haunting vox and a deliciously chugging bottom end.

PREMIERE: TH;EN - Lucid Ashes [Truesoul]

Joris Voorn's Spectrum imprint continues its mission to spotlight visionary electronic music with the debut of Dutch producer Tim van Werd, who delivers a cinematic two-track EP: 'View From Space.' A release inspired by the awe of the cosmos and the humbling perspective of orbit. 

The title track, 'View From Space,' draws on the powerful words of Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, whose reflections from orbit sparked the theme of the EP. Glistening chimes and warm, enveloping rhythms capture the beauty of Earth as seen from above, a fragile, shared home suspended in the blackness of space. It's a meditation on unity, wonder, and the stillness of perspective.

The journey continues with 'Jupiter', a bold musical leap into the outer solar system. Swirling pads and expansive textures echo the eternal storms and timeless energy of the gas giant. It's a piece that explores scale, a soundtrack to drifting past something ancient, unknowable, and infinitely vast. A reminder of our place in the universe, and the power of sound to express the inexpressible. 

With View From Space, Tim van Werd delivers an emotionally resonant debut. A perfect fit for the Spectrum ethos of music with meaning, mood, and magnitude.
