HOGS

HOGS, the italian rock band, joined in Florence in 2012 and include members from the latest line up of prog rock band: Macchina Ossuta.
Hogs members are: Simone Cei (lead & backing vocals), Francesco Bottai (guitars), Luca Cantasano (bass) and Pino Gulli (drums & percussion).
 
Francesco Bottai, well known  session man, backed names such as Irene Grandi’s “La Forma Srl”, Articolo 31 between 1999 and 2005 and Nadia
Von Jacobi.
Also leader and composer  of avant-garde rock bands: Strange Fruit, Radio Rahim and Macchina Ossuta. Currently known for his fine guitar
work in well known tribute bands such as Norge (Led Zeppelin) and Dancing Industry (Steely Dan).
 
Pino Gulli started his career as a progressive rock drummer in the seventies. Former member of Dharma and Anhima, he is also known for his
studio work as a session player on outstanding works such as “Ko de Mundo” and “In Quiete” from C.S.I and later P.G.R.
 
Luca Cantasano lent his bass playing talents to bands like: Kaostributo, Stazione Centrale, Alcool/UBT and since 2010: Diaframma,  leading
italian new wave band currently active and touring
 
In 2012, Francesco, Luca and Pino got together and started laying down the first tracks. These were the core of a project that would have
later involved Simone Cei, a 22 year old singer, who immediately showed his musical talent, strong writing and melodic skills.
In july HOGS  started jamming together and working on the original backing tracks.
In january 2015, their debut album: “HOGS in fishnets”  was recorded at Guido Meli’s “Plastic Sun Studio”, due to be released on April 20 for
Red Cat Records.
 
Influence of progressive rock and 90’s funk rock stand out, while Simone’s rock blues vocals give a  strong edge to a record wisely guided by
good old rock & roll.
The album has two faces, one called “Funky side” which is  the most odd and freakish part, contaminated by funky  rhythmes, the other named
“Hard side”, where tracks are rooted in Hard Rock, R&R, and R&B. All together locked by Simone’s visionary lyrics revolving around themes
like love, life and the thousand faces of every day life and human beings.
