The Sound is rough n dirty but definitely honest and heartfelt, but it's amazing how things work out when we're open to Letting them happen!  ;)

Like most people, I have heard this song many times, read the poem.
 But now I understand the depth of this poem, so sore and fragile. 
Thank you from heart Debra and Phil,  two wonderful musicians. A JOY.

If you need one poem for regrets in your life, then it must be this poem. 

Down by the Salley Gardens was written by W B Yeats (1889), who is generally known as one of Ireland’s greatest poets.

    Down by the salley gardens my love and I did meet;
    She passed the salley gardens with little snow-white feet.
    She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree;
    But I, being young and foolish, with her would not agree.

    In a field by the river my love and I did stand,
    And on my leaning shoulder she laid her snow-white hand.
    She bid me take life easy, as the grass grows on the weirs;
    But I was young and foolish, and now am full of tears.

 Yeats published the poem in his collection, The Wanderings of Oisin and Other Poems in 1889. 
In a note on the poem, he said that he was trying to reconstruct an old song he had heard being sung by a woman in the village of Ballisodare in Sligo.

Down by the Salley Gardens was written as a poem and remained that way until 1909 when Herbert Hughes set it to music using the old Irish melody, The Maids of Mourne Shore.

In Japan, the rainy season lasts from the beginning of June to mid-July. When I was young I didn’t like the rainy season at all. But now in my fifties, I like rain if it’s not too heavy. It often comforts and soothes me.

A Rainy Night

LYRICS:
Jumped on a tram this afternoon with the intent of going nowhere in particular,
And as I sat across from you, you smiled and you winked your eye.
We stopped for Irish coffee at our favourite bar, they were playing tapes of flamenco guitar and to the sweet sensual sounding Spanish strains we sat and watched the world go by;
 
Hipsters in hi-top shoes, punks in lace-up leather boots, 
The pompous and the destitute, a busker with a wooden flute.
Slick folks in business suits and haul girls in hot pursuit
Watching it go by with you I realise I call this home.
 
Tonight we’ll head out with the crew, with the intent of going somewhere new;
A jazz band jamming and a game of pool and a hottie behind the  bar.
Then when we’ve drunk our fill and we’re heading off, it might be time for souvlaki at the tram stop, and when we finally grab a cab the heels come off and we can watch the world go by.
