"the matinée idles" (aka kevin barry), is from Dublin,Ireland, currently living Dublin & London.

His debut album was the critically acclaimed "Looking for Murphy." 
The name "the matinée idles" came from his love of film & the sound you get is described as "lyrically dark, atmospheric & cinematic" 

"a festival of colours" his long awaited second album, was released on his own record label "4 cats the bird & the baby."

Kevin writes, engineers & produces his own work & also plays all the instruments.
He has featured on BBC Radio 6 & Tom Robinson's show Fresh on the Net.
Following the release Kevin signed a 3 year licensing deal for 5 of his songs to a publishing companies in the USA, Canada & Ireland. They have placed songs in numerous Hollywood block buster films; their placements include music in Academy Award-winning films such as “Brokeback Mountain”, “The Blind Side” and “A Beautiful Mind”; Emmy-winning shows such as “Six Feet Under”, “Breaking Bad”, “Damages”, and “House”

This latest number from “the matinee idles” upcoming album “a festival of colours” (due out in 2014) and on the back of this single and 2010’s ‘Everything’ it promises to be an eclectic affair.
So far, so low key but from about the one minute mark the unnerving drums and guitar suddenly build in volume and intensity, they rise to a real crescendo of menace before suddenly shuddering to an abrupt halt. 
At a little over three minutes the single doesn’t outstay its welcome.
An upbeat summer number this isn’t. It comes off a little Zooropa meets Kid A era Radiohead down a dark alley, which isn’t a bad thing if you can imagine such a sonic marriage. This latest release from the Idles shows enough promise to mark Barry’s band as one to watch out for in 2014”

In 2010 Kevin released a song called "everything" along with a video from his upcoming album "a festival of colours", the video was filmed in the popular pub  "The Stags Head" in Dublin & it went on to be nominated for an IMTV award. This song was also signed to a New York publisher.

CountessM had, originally, began as a spoken word artist and lyricist, of whom, worked with European Dark Ambient/Dark Media artists in reciting original narrative prose for their instrumental work, until, she had gained the stamina and confidence for doing vocal singing, once again, after several years of being dormant from the world of music. CountessM wasn’t always a narrator. She was deemed, at one time, “Diva” material, in light opera, however, due to smoking, in her latter years, she had lost her falsetto and much of her vibrato ability and had adapted to a monotonous style of singing so she had gotten into R&B. Then years later, she had sang in a very low alto voice which had brought her, much notably,  a decent following. She had reached age 65 before long and had lost her ability again so she’d picked up working with pads and samples of sounds and, soon thereof, she had discovered that she possessed a knack for creating music for loops and samples, with the use of various music apps and software. Her genre change was drastic. She had gone from the elements that had come from a very dark place in the Underground Dark Electronic Music Scene in Europe. Having no spiritual connection and much hatred toward God, CountessM had made it her mission to apostatize against His name in her lyrical content and message to the world. She is going through a process of repentance in her life and has turned her life around to the best of her ability and she grows each day. Her genres today range from Acid Jazz/Acid House to Acid Techno and Cyber Techno/Trance. Most of her works that she has uploaded here, on this site, are impromptu and spur of the moment. Some of her works will sound sparse and incomplete due to this fact. So, sit back and appreciate the ride!￼
