Japan is a country known for its rich culture, with its musical heritage standing out globally. Many dance music artists have evolved from its subcultures and one of these producers, Nabepro, is about to drench you in his slick sonics through drum & bass imprint 0101 Records. Headed by dark drum & bass stalwart Maztek, who’s made a name for himself over the span of decades through the music he’s released on a variety of different labels, Nabepro has found a home for his new direction. He’s most notably known for his hip hop and R&B beats, although now he’s turned his attention to genres of a faster tempo. This output stands as his first EP influenced by the styles of drum & bass which have influenced the underground. It shows just how diverse his production is and how it’s been able to infiltrate a worldwide marketplace, especially with his vast soundscapes and angry, noisy influences.
‘Crown’ is the first wave of new music which is about to hit listeners and it gives a huge indication into how Nabepro came under the guise of Maztek. From ‘Animals’ through to ‘Ship’ this is an overview of the eclectic song writing which Nabepro has at this disposal. The winding world of ‘Animals’ sets the EP off, whilst ‘Headnod’ follows next with its clanking drum sequences and grinding bass notes. ‘Monsoon’ then comes through with winding bass and lulling arpeggios. ‘Wonk’ takes on a totally different tip, again upping the tempo and creating a twisted world of clanking percussive patches and bleating horns. ‘Ship’ is the closing record and it’s one which is just as chaotic as its forerunners. The track’s impact isn’t lost through its complexity and Nabepro goes for the jugular with gritted teeth, clawing in between its slamming kicks and crunching snares.
For an introduction it’s a dizzying accomplishment to be able to hold your weight against the big guns. Nabepro shows that he’s able to do this through his own lens and it also heightens the versatility of artists debuted throughout the roster of 0101 Records.

It's time for some veteran business on Technique Recordings. We've already seen T-Phonic dropping bombs on the label with his almighty team-ups with Deadman (now operating under the name Al Storm), and, of course, Sense's name will be familiar to all real heads. Whether you know him from his long-standing Moondance residency, his huge collabs with the likes of Peshay and J Majik or his heavyweight solo back cat, it's clear he brings some serious pedigree to the table.

So, what's the story here?

The first track is called 'Junglist Murderer' and, seemingly, it does exactly what the title suggests. We're thrown headlong into a landscape of rave stabs, manipulated breaks and ragga vocals. But that's just the intro. With an OJ's ear for twisting up styles and patterns, T-Phonic and Sense build to a drop which presents a whole different angle.

The gut-rupturing two-step drums and insistently grinding bass, punctuated and accentuated by masterful break-deployment connect the foundational elements of junglism directly to today's DnB dancefloors.

Then, 'Vanished Without a Trace' displays a whole other facet to T-Phonic and Sense's style. Cinematic layers of warm and enveloping synth-work paint an epic sci-fi setting, supplemented by the eponymous dialogue sample. We're in a world of huge, rising, hopeful chords, but with an insidious note of darkness and danger just under the surface.

The pounding savagery of the drop punches a hole straight through whatever gentle and comforting warmth there might have been in the intro's harmonies. Now we're down to business with explosive drums and shuddering low-end, and paranoid rising tones keeping the tension at heart-troubling levels. T-Phonic and Sense aren't close to being done there, though. They've saved some of their most twisted modulations for the second drop, making this a versatile weapon for creative deejays.

There's a combination of styles here, as junglist influences meld with modern dancefloor DnB. T-Phonic and Sense have delivered two tunes that are going to find a place in sets across the drum 'n' bass scene and beyond. Unmissable.

The new EP on Ozriderz from Lowriderz called "My Style", 6 tracks, including collaborations with Smoky D, Steppa style, Distant Future and Outselect.

The title track called "My Style" is filthy Jump UP, the signature cryptic intro is replaced by an assertive drop. The grotty bassline will make you move on the dance floor without stopping. The second track was attended by one of the best DnB MC’s in Russia - Smoky D, together with Lowriderz they made a dancefloor roller. Ragga jungle sounds in the Intro, which have been a signature feature, perfectly convey the mood of the track, the drop of track is a set of dense drums and fashionable howling basses. This one’s ready to get tested on a big soundsystem.

The third work is a collaboration with our close friend, Distant Future called "Mistake". Very interesting sound, rolling in a primitive form, and the track has been repeatedly tested on dancefloors around the world.

The next work was attended by a cool Moscow MC- Steppa Style, the signature sound for this Duo's collaborations, Wobble bass perfectly takes us back to the past years, the years when wobble bass was the most popular solution for the dance floor break. Nice work. The fourth track is "Next level"! This work was attended by producer Outselect. A great track that will perfectly complement your collection of deep tracks in your folder. And the final track on the EP is the VIP version of the track "Desperado". The original track made quite a bit of noise after being released on the first Ozriderz releas, Lowriderz gave a new life to the track, pumping the sound and diversifying the Bass and the drum line.
