The wait is over - PB4 is here. Perhaps one of the most revered album series in drum & bass is back with a vengeance, and some are saying it maybe the best yet. 

It’s hard to believe this is the debut track by Calibre on Metalheadz, and it’s already a firm dancefloor favourite thanks to its skipping drums and variants in bass. The drums have the unmistakeable Calibre air to them, the air that grabs you by the hips and demands you move and paired with the aforementioned screwface bass, it really is a foregone conclusion that you're going to move.

The remix was massively different to the original, and had one the trademark Aphro reece bass lines with an Acid twist, and a old-school hip hop intro.

APH26 catalogue number, and the other side of Rinsing Quince.

Before days of instant mobile phone dictionaries, the spelling of Rythm... Rhythmn and Rythmn was different and wrongly spelt in the various stages of the artwork.

Vibing off of light, layered keys and female R&B coos, Break gives us a rolling five minutes of pure A-side. Not to be lost in the air, a thickly chopped break plays overtop sub bass as filter resonances enter at the offsides, carefully touching on the interplay of voice and gated percussion. This is a rattling piece that's as much deep house as it is liquid step.

Break's take on Mako's recent Billie Holiday homage bounces its bass and hi-freq drums between two densely layered snare notes. Splices of tape-delayed voice dither off into an empty jazz-space, leaving a heavy analog-sounding synth, motes of vinyl dust and a closing section that fades just before returning to the tonic—ready for the final phase of your mix.

10 years of experimentation and exploration. 10 years of quality and quantity. 10 years of sublime music from all corners of the world. 10 years of Horizons.
 
10 years ago Horizons Music released their first ever piece of music, a track going by the name of '10 steps', produced by Skitty. Since that epoch making moment, the label has evolved into a staple of the Drum & Bass scene, becoming a byword for consistency and quality in the process. It is therefore fitting that ten years on, some of the labels regulars come together to produce a masterful 14 track album, that encompasses everything Horizons is about.
 
A quick flick through the roster for the album tells you everything you need to know. Stalwarts of the scene Digital and Spirit make both individual and collective appearances, providing their trademark blends of invention and raw energy. Break delivers a quintessential effort and Jubei steps up to bring his own relick to Skitty's '10 steps'. Another remix of Horizon's inaugural release comes courtesy of label regulars 'Amoss – doing the original justice superbly.
 
Amoss also take up their place beside label favourite Nickbee in taking on individual efforts, whilst artists as well renowned as DLR, Need for Mirrors, Mako & Hydro, Silent Witness, Detail and Scar make a strong a line up as you are liable to see on any release this year.
 
Musically, it is Horizons all over. From the Thunderous crunch of 'Outta Time' and 'In the Moment' to the deeper cuts of 'Piano Licks and 'Fields', this is an ode to quality. Add in the brilliant experimentation of music like 'Organic' and 'Keep me in the Loop' and you have an album that is worthy of representing 10 years of Horizons Music.
