Since the entire country is getting closer to a lockdown state, i figured i could make some time to record a new mixtape for my Manic Monday Moodswing sessions. I think the title couldn't be more appropriate in these dark times as well as the mood for the mixtape itself. 
I've selected some digital tracks and combined them with some waxes of which i hope you'll get to enjoy very much.

PALE PENGUIN’s one of the key figures in Greek electronic scene. Based in Thessaloniki, Greece, he’s been djing for almost 20 years being one of the best Greek Breaks/Techno/Tech-House djs. In his portfolio there are appearances in big festivals (Sola Luna, Balkan Voices, Urban Rhythm, Reworks, Butterfly, Spring Festen) alongside Slam, Felix Da Housecat, Dave Angel, Luke Slater, Dominic Eulberg, Modeselektor, Rob Luis (Tru Thoughts), Coldcut, Octave One, Eddie Piller etc, and many venues throughout Greece and Europe. He has done warm-ups to artists likes Rjd2, Thievery Corporation, Richard Dorfmeister, Nightmares On Wax, Kid Loco, Mushroom (Massive Attack), Frank Popp, Bjorn Torske, Bentley’s Rhythm Ace, Snowboy, Hooverphonic etc. He was one of the first radio producers playing Breaks/Drum n’Bass and Electronica in his legendary “Tricknology”, “Brainwash” and “Cinematica Paradiso” radio shows. Since 2003 he’s resident dj in Bar/Club Elvis, Thessaloniki, Greece presenting Friday “BreakTech” nights in which he has hosted Meat Katie, Lee Coombs, Tom Real, Malente, Andy Smith, Ursula 1000, Smacs & Crazy Sonic, Lee Bass and Aidan Lavelle. He was also resident dj to legendary club Liebe, Thessaloniki, Greece in which he has done warm-up sets for Meat Katie, Kevin Saunderson, AtJazz, Break The Box etc. He has done exclusive mix sets for many net radios (Ibreaks Radio, NSB Radio, Breakbeat.Ca site, NuBreaks Radio), exclusive mix CD’s (“Battle Of The Breaks” series) for Freeze magazine, he has performed dj sets in Thessaloniki’s International Fair, Thessaloniki’s International Film Festival, has took part many times (as member of the djs team) in the biggest Balkans Hip-Hop/Breakdance/Funky Breaks event “Battle Of The Year/Balkans”, and in many clubs throughout Europe (Flex Club/Vienna, Arttheater Club/Cologne, Art & Dance/Cologne, Rivolli/London, Club Montepulciano/London, South London Pacific/London). HIs production activities begun with SCOPITONE CONSPIRACY & POZITRONIC RAY and since 2006 he’s member of THE SCIENTIFICS-a Breaks project which have released singles and remixes for labels like V.I.M.Breaks, Erase, Basstard, Yellow Finger Communications, Warriorz Music, performed live throughout Greece, Italy and Germany, and being presented in many sites, radios, forums (BreakinAsia, Breakbeat Canada, Annie Nightingale Radio 1 Show, Ibreaks Radio, NSB Radio, Nu Breaks Radio etc). Since early 2007, together with Echonomist and Mr.Lookman, launched and manages V.I.M. (Very Important Music) Records, releasing quality Breaks, Tech-House, Electronica singles and albums by many International and Greek artists. From the beginning of 2009 he has formed with KID STRETCH the Funky/Disco-Breaks project PALE THE KID. Focused mainly on Electro Disco-Breaks sound they have managed to release stuff for Breakbeat Paradise, V.I.M.Breaks, Dirty Drop, Warriorz Music and Timewarp Music. In the beginning of 2011 together with STAMA he had launched DIABLO LOCO RECORDS, a label specialized on top quality Tech-Breaks/Tech-Funk releases. DIABLO LOCO RECORDS managed to do an awesome start with awesome singles and remixesand gained BREAKSPOLL 2012 BEST NEW BREAKS LABEL AWARD. From 2013 till 2015 he launced the Bassline project NYCTEUS. Since 2018 together with Mr.Lookman they produce as KELLIE SAKKAKU in a hypnotic/world/tribal/tech mood.

Volzigt’s musical journey began when he picked up a guitar for the first time. It was then that he discovered an unquenchable thirst for music. This initial spark led him down a rabbit hole from which he never looked back.

Influenced by his early love for hip-hop, house, and the unmistakable groove of disco, Volzigt started out playing vinyl and has navigated through a diverse array of musical landscapes. After years of experimentation and evolution, his productions and DJ sets have crystallized into a sound that is deeply melancholic, uplifting, occasionally tinged with psychedelia, and always rooted in the darker side of organic house.

As a co-owner of We Are Obscure, an event organization and record label, Volzigt plays a pivotal role in curating a broad spectrum of electronic music, with a particular focus on the more obscure and nuanced aspects of organic house. He is also one of the key figures behind the evolution of Club Escargot, an event that has been instrumental in developing the downtempo scene in Amsterdam, shaping it into a vibrant and essential part of the city’s subcultures.

Volzigt has graced the decks of major clubs in Amsterdam and Berlin, bringing his distinctive sound to some of the most renowned venues. His music has found a home on respected labels such as Baikal Nomads, Obscure Records, and trndmsk, earning him a reputation for producing tracks that are as emotionally deep as they are sonically rich.

As an artist, Volzigt continues to push the boundaries of his craft, constantly seeking new ways to blend melancholy with euphoria, creating an immersive experience that resonates long after the music has stopped.
