VONDA7 delivers her ten-track debut album ‘Let Go’ on art | werk , uncovering a collection of productions which showcase her diverse and rich sound palette via her own imprint.

Presenting a melting pot of influences, inspirations and artistry from across the electronic spectrum, taking in nuances and cues from house and techno through to hip-hop, indie, synth-pop and beyond, VONDA7’s debut album ‘Let Go’ showcases and serves up a well-crafted and notable example of her continued experimentation across styles.

With her own vocals at the core of her work, and with her productions connecting a variety of elements and sounds into a genre-fluid and evolving project, the ten-track offering presents the Berlin-based DJ and producer in her most complete musical form to date, highlighting her desire to not fit within conventional boundaries and guidelines, but instead to create her own realm.

Combining a collection of tracks already released digitally as singles alongside a host of fresh, unreleased productions, the project unveils a rich body of work whilst telling a story of self-reflection, and exploring subjects such as human relationships and a quest for purpose.

Often playful, with fairy tale and dream-like qualities at times, whilst also presenting real and raw questions, messages and thoughts throughout, ‘Let Go’ offers up an in-depth and personal journey into VONDA7 not only as an artist, but as an individual, delivering an impressive debut album from a blossoming talent most certainly on the rise.

Offering a fine taster of what to expect from Sean McCabe’s debut album is ‘Tomorrow’s Another Day’ featuring the crystal clear, neo-soul vocals of Donae’o. The single itself is a sunny, feel-good anthem with swinging drums, soaring vocals and golden chords that warm through minds, bodies and souls.

As well as the original Extended Version there is a Sean McCabe dub which tones down the vocals and buries them amongst glowing pads, twinkling disco melodies and plenty of colourful chord action. The beats still swing invitingly, with extra warm dub undercurrents and frankly it’s the sort of record that is impossible not to love.

The album and ‘Tomorrow’s Another Day’ single are released on Monday 27th October

The next essential offering on the ever impressive No.19 Music label is a sublime collaboration between label boss Jonny White AKA Art Department and fellow Canadian Mario J who goes under the moniker of AD/D. The pair cook up a killer original and also serve up a deeper dub mix, with both tracks sure to have a huge impact on the dancefloor.

The ever essential White is one of the leading players in world dance music as a DJ,producer and clued-up A&R of his own label. He has put out numerous seminal tracks as Art Department and this new one with Mario J is no different. It follows the recent AD/D debut single for the label which featured a pair of remixes from ArtDepartment and received extensive global press and club support.

This single kicks off with the original version of ‘Full Circle’, a firing and robust track with big pinging kick drums powering things along. The hi-hats drop in from a great height adding a real sense of scale to the groove as it irresistibly bounces along. Fun yet functional and with a fat dub feel, its clever filters, subtle melodies and loopy sub bass all suck you in and the whole thing is sure to unite any dancefloor under its smooth and effortless house spell. Fresh and charismatic, this is the sort of track to really inject some life and soul into a DJ set.

The dub mix is more stern and stripped back, perfect for intimate back rooms and sweaty basement parties with its tough hits and knotted little synth lines. Again fleshed out with some exquisite dub vibes, this one sounds cut from rock and is sure to lock people deep into its groove. The way the chords dangle tantalisingly up top really add some essential tension and drama, and the overall effect proves this pair are real masters of their art.

Once again here No.19 Music has delivered something exciting and fresh that really packs a punch, with this pairing of Art Department and AD/D seeming to be an inspired move.

“We have always been very fortunate to meet and know many talented producers. In recent years, we have been exploring those relationships with different remixes and collaborations, and every time something exciting came out. That’s why we started our Synchronicity project. To challenge ourselves making inspiring, fun and beautiful music. ‘Synchronicity’ means "the simultaneous occurrence of events which appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection. This very well describes how our path led to the place we are now – somewhere between the club and indie scenes.” – WhoMadeWho

KOMPAKT welcomes back three dear friends – Copenhagen’s WhoMadeWho. Tomas Barfod’s penchant for electronic music poetically juxtaposed with Tomas Høffding and Jeppe Kjellberg’s respective backgrounds in rock and jazz, gives their music an electrifying combination of sounds, merging a variety of influences to produce a unique sonic fingerprint that is emotive, irresistible and immensely satisfying.

Though we both have yet to strike a note together since the release of their 2012 full length “Brighter” (KOM 254), WhoMadeWho have been remarkably productive. With two full lengths, a DJ mix for Watergate’s series and releasing two of 2019’s most played out club tracks together with Rampa (Innervisions) and Artbat (Watergate Records), the trio have found themselves diving more and more into the world of electronic music, tapping into their goldmine of connections within the scene to spearhead an array of collaborations.

The result is Synchronicity – a series of 3 EP’s to be released throughout 2020 on KOMPAKT.

Synchronicity 1 gets introduced by none other than one of today’s most respected producers – Studio Barnhus’ own Axel Boman. With “Anywhere In The World”, they create an eccentric house number that conjures ghosts of Talking Heads past mingling in a smokey club that would make Adrian Sherwood proud. Echonomist is no stranger to the dancefloor with releases on Innverisions, Blue Shadow and TAU to name a few. Together they came up with with two of the four tracks. The first is “Interloper” and will appease any early WhoMadeWho fan’s appetite. The boys croon to an Italo bred disco rhythm of the catchiest kind. Adana Twins managed to get some studio time in with the boys before lockdown and with “Immersion” they make us yearn for the festival stages of yesterday’s past. It’s no surprise as they continue to dominate the Beatport charts which all started with their smash hit remix of “Roar” by our own Patrice Bäumel! Echonomist returns with the EP closer “Cecile”. They fall into a deeper affair carried graciously by WhoMadeWho’s signature baseline and the shimmer of guitars and sunset soaked synths.
