It is not everyday we are sent a 5 hour mix from someone we have asked to join our Phonica mix series; but when Sheffield & Manchester legend Luke Una sends one… you have to jump straight into it! Having become first recognised in the late 80’s and 90’s as one half of production team “The Unabombers” with Justin Crawford, Luke over the years has shown to be a master in all genres be it Balearic, to Brazilian to E soul, House, Disco and Techno, you name it! With his Worldwide FM show over the years gaining a cult following Luke has gained an even more of a broader crowd from his curation of his E Soul Cultura compilation series via the label Mr.Bongo (Both comps topping our EOY lists in 2022 and 2023). This exact vast taste (that is displayed in these compilations) is very much pummelled into this five hour journey of a mix like a piece of clay and sculpted into a fine piece of art. RHLSTP #8: Stewart Lee. Lee and Herring are back together, but they're old and chilled and less likely to talk about moons and sticks and all the other catchphrases that they used to do that they are now too addled to remember. There's some serious chats about comedy, but also some stupid stuff about being wanked off by the hand of a 100 year old ventriloquist dummy, egg obsessed crows and whether a satirist can accept an honour from the Queen.

Cluub Zarathustra, a 1987 pact about what not to do in comedy, Jerry Springer and the changing status of the character Stewart Lee who is not the same as Stewart Lee also figure. But who smashed the kitchen cupboard doors in Edinburgh 2002? Will we ever know? No.

It's chilled and relaxed and there are no rods of effluent, but I think you might like it. Hope so.

RHLSTP #9 Armando Iannucci and Graham Linehan - it's the last in the series, but what a way to end with the creators of Ted and Ralph, Father Ted, Malcolm Tucker and Alan Partridge on stage together (but who created which?). There's talk of tax evasion, OBEs, fantastic new plots for Last of the Summer Wine, Goodfellows and a surprising departure for the Birmingham Six. Find out how many people on stage have been wanked by a ventriloquist dummy operated by Stewart Lee. It goes on for AGES, but I don't think it's hyperbole to say that this is better than the hyper-bowl. The only way it could have been improved is if we'd put a Shrek in it. Back in October for more. In the meantime there will be 25 or so RHEFP in August to keep you busy. Be lovely to see you in the audience of one of those!

2021 - We're here. We did it. To be honest, none of us are  currently going anywhere anyway.... so we may as well listen to some music. 

Hopefully, this - the very first GGHQ mix of the new year - is satisfactory to you - our hardcore listeners. 'Who's this Will Von Griz?' you may ask. Well, he's one of our oldest friends, one quarter of the infamous Special Needs crew, the former unofficial mayor of Graham Road, an OG sneaker expert and streetwear fanatic (way before it was 'a thing' - the quiver is real)and easily one of Barrow-In-Furness' deepest selectors. If you know, you already know! 

We've known Will for aeons, played records with him literally 1000's of times and found ourselves on some 'interesting' excursions together over the years. He's dropped this pepped up, sweaty bass driven mix on us, a celebration full of records are at least 3 decades old! Tons of classics and those energetic tracks. A proper sonic kick up the arse, basically. Amen brother.

We hope you like it as much as our neighbours have the last few weeks.

The driving force behind early rave pioneers Altern 8 and techno legends Nexus 21, he co-founded Dansa Records in 1993 and has produced under a dazzling array of pseudonyms including Trackman, DJ Nex, Xen Mantra, and many more.
