Midnight Magic’s perennial disco anthem  “Beam Me Up” announced itself as an  instant classic from the moment of its  release in 2010, and at long last the band  has teamed up with fellow Brooklynites  Razor-N-Tape for a 10-year-anniversary  package (minus one lost year) that once  again establishes the timeless quality of  the song with a fresh and versatile  package of new remixes. 

Norwegian space-disco don Prins Thomas delivers a sprawling and elegant mix, grounding melodic and psychedelic elements over a bumping percussive disco rhythm treatment, stretching out over 8 minutes of blissful breakdowns, delays and driving bass lines. Kim Ann Foxman takes the song to a darker and dubbier place with her  “Beam Me To The Basement Mix,” layering samples of singer Tiffany Roth’s vocal and insistent acid synths over a heavy and pulsing low end. Each Other, a new project by Max Pask and NYC club royalty Justin Strauss, crafts an extended peak-time stormer of a mix, with churning analog drum and synth production that is somehow ravey,  New-Wavey and lush all at once.

These three mixes truly capture an entire club night in one record, each a beautifully unique interpretation that showcases the inimitable talent and creativity of the remixers, and is also a testament to the enduring perfection of the original. It all began with a bag of weed in Monterrey. Thomas Von Party and Daniel Maloso jamming in the studio, emerging with an idea that took the form of a lucid dream that could not only be tamed, but shared. Maloso, the Mexican Bruce Wayne, inspired TVP to reimagine his favourite 60s TV theme song as a punchy Chicago party jam. The demo was later arranged in Montreal by genius UK-pop icon Kane West (of Kero Kero Bonito fame), with the vocals redone by Wolf & Lamb protegé and self-proclaimed sex addict (to be confirmed) Pony. The completed track found its way into the hands of a random few DJs (Chaim and Thomass Jackson, among others) who gave it cult-like status by dropping it in their sets to the frustrated delight of shazam'ers the world over. Two years later, the naff vibe has matured to a fully ripened state, finally dropping on Easter Fool's Day, 2018.

A regular at Cocktail d’Amore, Bell Towers is a Berlin-based Australian producer best known for his long-lasting collaboration with Munich’s Public Possession. Next to that, a number of projects under different monikers — namely Rim Boys, an evolving b2b with András.

“I'm Moving To Berlin” is his first EP for Cocktail d’Amore Music. It's a sparkling celebration of the party; its influence on the city and on the producer’s life tangents. “It’s too late now / There’s no turning back / I gave it all for Cocktail d’Amor…” Rohan confesses, while a hybrid EBM-synth pop sonic adventure unfolds.

What happens next is presented in “Sexual Intruder Alert” and “Approach and Identify”. The first comes through as a quirky multidimensional future-disco tale, while the second plunges deep into the cosmic hole with punchy percussions and an euphoric groove pattern.

Parisian party-starters Les Yeux Orange have served up some of the edit scene's most sensational reworks of recent times. They're at it again on their latest EP, which is hotter than a car bonnet after a day in the baking sun. Opener "Africa", is a thrusting mid-1980's affair that smothers a throbbing, arpeggio-driven groove in breathy synth-flute motifs, ricocheting drum machine hits and choice vocal cuts. They continue on a similar vein on "Samurai", a bustling re-edit of a mid 1980's French tune that's as Balearic as hanging out at Amnesia while wearing paisley shirts and baggy dungarees. Best of all though is "Midnight", a deliciously camp and sleazy affair rich in dirty arpeggio bass, over-the-top synth motifs and gravel-voiced male spoken word vocals.

London based Brazilian artist Laima releases the 12” vinyl release of ‘Disco Pregnancy’. The release follows from her double-vinyl debut album ‘Home’, released by DEEWEE last November. ‘Home’ is a striking proposition. It’s a package which features two records that are designed to be played simultaneously: Laima’s vocal and synth tracks on the ‘Tonal’ disc alongside Iggor’s beats on the ‘Rhythmical’ record. By syncing the two records listeners are offered an unconventional way to experience the music.

The ‘Disco Pregnancy’ 12” is out now and for the first time features the combined Tonal + Rhythmical versions of album tracks ‘Disco Pregnancy’ and ‘Home’, all recorded, produced and mixed by Stephen & David Dewaele (Soulwax/2manydjs).

It were as if she was commanding some great orchestra, up there in the sky, as the thunder crashed and the bangs of drums echoed between the clouds. She was god, her name was Hestia. 

Inflect Records are set to release a compilation of new material from an assortment of artists, proto disco, italo, acid and beyond on a fun filled record set to move dancefloors and festivals. This track, "Hestia", features on the release, an arpeggio driven affair by JackWasFaster.
