With a knack for deep, trance-tinged and bangin tunes, they are quickly making a name for themselves in the local scene. So grateful they could be a part of the series!

Though these exceptional humans are immensely talented as individuals, it’s an honor to hear them perform together and in this experimental, ambient zone curated for the morning. As cofounders of Standards & Practices with Jonathan Krohn (Stave), Karl and Ken will feature forthcoming music from their label, plus unreleased tracks on like-minded imprints such as Downwards and Monastral. Standards & Practices continues this year with new releases by Krohn/Mjolsness and Stave.

Ian's work was unknown to me prior to him sending me over his mix, but a further look into his page and profile has uncovered some 
really nice deep and hypnotic music (his link is below so make sure you check this out)

"My musical foundations are rooted in AC/DC, Sabbath and Metallica and give rise to a love of 4/4 rhythm and the riff. From here they veered into where worlds collide – Pink Floyd met the Orb in a student dive and a love of electronica was born, encompassing pioneers such as Orbital, Leftfield et al through to UK D&B, taking in Kruder & Dorfmeister and the dub scene along the way.
The love affair however ended in the early nineties, I wasn’t feeling anything from electronica any more, but I knew the music I could hear in my mind must be out there - somewhere. My musical imaginations seemed to put all of the above aspects in place and was only discovered pre pandemic in the form of deep techno. This discovery so rekindled my love and excitement that I took the plunge into DJing - I wanted to take the music internally heard and create mixes to ease back to and soothe the soul. Voila. I hope you all get the same level of enjoyment from this mix, as I had creating it." - Morian.

Deep broken beats, IDM & bass influenced chuggers are the theme here, however in her DJ sets she has been known to explore tasteful prog, fast and  higher energy rollers. Looking forward to watch Nak grow and flourish in the Naarm scene over the next while :)
