Independiente Records formed in 1997, releasing records for seminal artists such as Travis, Embrace, Tinariwen, So Solid Crew, and Martina-Topley Bird. The label has seen a considerable amount of success throughout the late 90's and early 00's with critically acclaimed albums such as "The Man Who" by Travis, which became the 25th biggest selling album in the UK after its release.

About MIXMASTERS (Master J, Kodi Starr and King Terra)
The UK base music crew influenced by their Jamaican and UK roots. Dj Master J, Kodi Starr and Dj King Terra campaign ranges from radio shows, festivals, night clubs, organising events for all ages, mix CDs, writing and music production with a slew of dub plates to back them up.

Whilst most Djs/ crews prefers a Dj booth, for the MIXMASTERS there is no place like home and their home is the stage, the bigger the better for a whole other level of musical entertainment. 

Music production is having been and is becoming a prominent part of their success and will be showcased a lot more. Kodi Starr has secured two number one spots in the BBC 1Extra dancehall charts with popular Dancehall artist Stylo G and presently working with several major labels and artists in the UK. Both Kodi Starr and Master J tours with Stylo G has his Dj and has assisted in the artist elevated performances. Master J is also a ghost writer for several UK artists and is good at predicting hits. Dj Terra held one of the biggest unsigned talent cyphers and has a good ear for new artists.

About DJ Master J
Dj Master J is MIXMASTERS main Dj and master of ceremony, quick on the mic and ready with the hot tracks that will get any show going anywhere.

Born and raised in Kingston Jamaica and later took up residency in the United Kingdom as a teenager. With strong Jamaican musical interest and a passion for global music, he was easily able to take his place in London as one of their household Djs on the Dancehall, Reggae, Soca, RnB and Hip-hop scene.

About Kodi Starr
Kodi Starr is MIXMASTERS official producer, sound engineer, host and Dj. With an ear for the right tracks and future hits. 

Kodi Starr born of Spanish Town, Jamaica.  Music had been influential in Kodi’s life from a very young age, because his father (Poison Chang), who was a recording artist during the 90s, with hits like “Press Up” that Made it to the J.A and UK Charts. By the age of 10 he already had experience recording vocals in the studio to being on stage performing with his dad and now Stylo G and other international artists. 

About DJ King Terra
Dj King Terra is MIXMASTERS official DJ from London, UK, He is as sharp on the desks as he is with selecting the right tracks for any party crowd. 

Born and raised in north London, he has been and grown up around some of the strongest Djs and musical talents of the city. He soon realised at a young age attending secondary school that he also had a talent for making people feel good through music. He was always picked as the Dj for talent shows, family functions and now top events arenas around the world.

With a career spanning nearly three decades, the Freestylers—Aston Harvey and Matt Cantor—have made their mark on the electronic dance music scene. From playing the world’s biggest festivals and clubs to appearing on Top of the Pops, they’ve remained at the forefront of the genre without ever standing still.

Origins & Breakthrough

Aston Harvey began as an engineer and producer, working with Rebel MC / Congo Natty and co-producing the jungle classic Spiritual Aura with DJ Rap. Matt Cantor, meanwhile, was part of Strike, co-producing the dance hit U Sure Do. The two met at Fresh Records, bonding over their love of hip-hop, electro, and breakbeats, leading to the birth of the Freestylers.

Their debut album brought them international success, with hits like B-Boy Stance and Ruffneck landing in the UK, Dutch, and German Top 20. A major US record deal followed, leading to a spot on Lenny Kravitz’s American Woman tour and a legendary Glastonbury 1999 performance.

Global Hits & Reinvention

Over the years, they’ve released a string of anthems, from Push Up, a #1 hit in Australia, Holland, and Belgium, to Cracks, which became a dubstep classic with 80+ million streams. They’ve also collaborated with Pendulum and held festival residencies worldwide.

In 2025, they’re set to release their seventh studio album, Enter the Sound—a collaboration with Dub Pistols featuring reggae legends like General Levy and Tippa Irie. With a packed schedule of festivals, remixes, and new music, the Freestylers are still going strong. In the words of LL Cool J: “Don’t call it a comeback—they’ve been here for years!”

Since the early 90s, DJ Upzet has been a devoted fan of electronic music. From the very beginning, he was drawn to Acid Techno, Rave, and Trance. In 1997, at just sixteen, he discovered his all-consuming love for Drum & Bass and and within a year, he was behind the decks. In 2001, he had begun organizing Dnb events in and around Mannheim, which, at the time, was Germany’s DnB capital city.
In 2009, Upzet made the move to Berlin, where he continued DJing and commenced promoting club event series like "Out of Mind", "Step higher", "Infected", "Lucid Dreaming", and other special party nights. Fast forward to 2015, he has been running the VOID Berlin, which he recently managed to enlarge. Thus, today, he is the owner and operator of VOID Club and VOID Hall. 
During the pandemic lockdownn, he reconnected with music production. His first track was released on Scientific Records with more to follow soon.
Today, Upzet’s signature styles are Liquid, Deep, Dark, Tech, Neuro, and Jumpup, though he’s no stranger to mixing Oldskool Jungle, Happy Breaks, or even Dark and Melodic Techno - bringing an infectious energy to every set. Above all, he crafts his mixes with one core principle: harmony.
