For our 20th edition we invited our good friend David Mohr.

With his long time residency at Gotec Club Karlsruhe and his exceptional vinyl sets all over southern germany he is one of the most well-known faces of the scene.

As founder of the Karlsruhe-based event-series "Oscillation field" he shares his own taste and vision of techno by inviting legends and artists like Thomas P. Heckmann, Hector Oaks, Janein or Parallx.

RASEREI 020 - DAVID MOHR

Our second premiere of the day comes from techno stalwart Max Gardner. The American producer inaugurates his and Cory Simpson’s Peer record label with a five-track EP. We premiere the the track ‘For Realness’, a deep and driving techno anthem.

Max Gardner has devoted himself to techno for over a decade. Max is now a regular fixture in Bay Area techno, performing all-hardware live sets at clubs and warehouse parties, organising his own events, and making his own hammerhead machine music.

Max Gardner’s sets are inspired by the strong, synth-forward sounds of Detroit and Berlin classics as well as new-school players from the Netherlands, Latin America, and the United States Midwest, and run the gamut of techno in its purest forms. He specialises in driving rhythms and sophisticated, long-form mixing, creating hypnotic blends that give whipped-up dancers just the perfect amount of nuance.

The EP ‘This is a Test’ makes a firm statement on Peer’s position in the world of techno moving forward. Building their endeavours upon a philosophy of artistic integrity, Gardner, Simpson and company bring credibility that affords their fledgling label early recognition. With two strong remixes from Insolate and Drumcell, this cements the labels names within the techno sphere.

‘For Realness’ is an excellently executed tool. The star of the show is the expertly placed hi-hats frame a dubby, vaguely Detroit-reminiscent melody that builds to a fever pitch before a sample of the track’s namesake takes center stage in the arrangement.

This is classic techno.

As a techno artist from the Netherlands, Dimi Angélis first got into the electronic music scene during the late '90s by promoting raves and warehouse parties in Amsterdam. Starting his DJ career around that time, Dimi has now been at it for over two decades, while producing his own tracks as well spinning. His path as an artist has taken him everywhere from Berghain and Awakenings, to Under Club and Dekmantel.

After teaming up with Jeroen Search in 2004, the first half of his career saw him release on labels such as Stockholm LTD, Construct Re-Form, Krill Music, Falling Ethics, Warm Up Recordings, Mord, Key Vinyl, Axis Records, A&S (which he co-owns) and his own ANGLS imprint. He also gained early support from artists of the likes of Adriana Lopez, Ancient Methods, Angel Molina, Ben Sims, Cari Lekebusch, Deniro, Dj Bruce Lee, Earwax, Fanon Flowers, Farceb, Johannes Volk, JP Enfant, Juho Kusti, Kaiser, Kangding Ray, Lenny Posso, Lewis Fautzi, Marco Bailey, Nihad Tule, Nuno dos Santos, O [Phase], Pacou, Roseen, Somniac One, Stefan Vincent, The Advent, and Tom Hades.

Dimi's new track "Sasquatch" is apart of his Underground Garden release. Being techno music made strictly for basements, the nasty kick and hypnotic loop in this track is surly to put you in a trance.

Trench Warfare is a Lithuanian artist who started his journey with music in 2020 after the first lockdown happened. While everyone’s normal life was restricted and everyone had to stay at home, his love for dark, industrial music started. He fell in love with the dark, deep sound that industrial - rhytmic noise, industrial and hypnotic techno provides and thats what inspired him to start DJ’ing - to create his unique sound and to show people that there is a darker, full of broken beats and industrial sounds side of music rather than 4x4 hard techno/ shranz music that most local events are filled with.

“He Bleeds Stories EP” is the first vinyl release on VRAAA Records, a techno label with the aim of queer-up the genre. The title track is a pounding peak-hour techno piece with a solid build-up, and dramatic strings. The second original track, “Just Keep Going” goes into a more acid, hypnotic and darker direction. Both original tracks contains elements from Projekt Gestalten’s past original productions clashing with new sounds and being incorporated into a whole new context; like pieces of different stories scattered throughout the music and reconfigured into a brand new tale. Each track was remixed by projects with contrasting gender identities: the fabulous German selector Anja Zaube, giving a feminine perspective and the heavyweight techno duo I/Y, representing the masculine side. Unfortunately, the I/Y project is parting ways and this is their last official release being put out.
