Welcome to Planet VIP. An exclusive collection of brand new remixes, VIP's and classic unreleased reworks. Taking in tracks from V Recordings, Liquid V, Chronic & Philly Blunt this project includes contributions from the whole of the V family, with tracks from the likes Roni Size, Dillinja, Eveson, DJ Krust, MC Fats & Kabuki all getting the Planet VIP treatment. 

On remix duties are some of the scenes finest producers including Nu:Tone, TC & Need For Mirrors, alongside some of the most exciting new artists to hit the scene in years like Unreal, Command Strange, DJ Chap, Dr Meaker and many more - this compilation fuses together the new and old with scintillating results!

Expertly mixed together by the original VIP selector Jumpin Jack Frost, this album takes the listener on a journey through many different styles of D&B, from the rolling liquid sounds, through to tough techy basslines, via some straight up dancefloor smashers, Planet V as always representing the full circumference.

From Cygnus Music: Skull & Bones kicks us off, with its funky, lilting intro, which drops into some rolling Eastern effects. Bass is never far away, underpinning MC Kwality’s deep, resonating rhymes. The word “Classic” can be thrown around all so easily these days but there are really only certain tracks worthy of such a prestigious title, seminal works that highlight a milestone within the particular genre they represent and tracks that are instantly recognizable throughout a whole scenes following, tunes that represent a time and space and a point in the music’s history.

One such tune is DJ Rap’s “Spiritual Aura”, a tune synonymous with Jungle music’s golden era and a track that truly encapsulates all of the elements that propelled the music to where it is today, a tune that incorporates all of the integral qualities that define the music past and present and a tune as welcome on any dancefloor today as it was 20 years ago.

To celebrate the tunes epic success, to cement its place in history and to coincide with DJ Rap’s well overdue return to the UK and Europe we are immensely proud to issue a brand new, bang up to the minute E.P of “Spiritual Aura” remixes from a great combination of talent that includes some of the hottest producers of the genre right now alongside some stunning emerging talent.

We could go on about how great the release is, but do we really need to? The proof is very much in the listening and we are quite sure that with a total of six stand out remixes to choose from that you’ll agree that this is a release definitely not to be missed.

Russian hell raisers repping with raw clarity: few acts have shown such broad skills as Teddy Killerz. Since emerging two years ago, they’ve worked with some of the biggest names across D&B, glitch, trap, dubstep and beyond. In each and every instance they’ve demonstrated an innate understanding of all genres with alarming killer motifs.

Their debut EP for Program sees them return to the source. D&B is where it began for the trio, and it’s where they show their most muscular, mindbending musical skills. Appearing on Andy C’s ‘Nightlife 6’ in November 2013 with the pranged out ‘Impossible’, these four tracks will be smashing dancefloors worldwide.

We kick off with the stunning ‘Big Blow’. Truly unique, it combines sharp percussive elements and a waspish bassline with a deep funk hook that’s entrenched in dramatic pianos and jazzy organs. Timeless, distinctive and daring, there is nothing out there like this.

‘Jackyl & Hyde’ follows. A physical gritty groove slams and shoves with power while Coppa lays down crisp lyrical messages. Textured with intricate production elements and more of the trio’s emphatic drum dynamics, it’s an instant head-turner.

Next up: ‘Era’. Delving further into the darkness, the trio whisk us on a mission into deep space. Smelting elements of complex neuro production with classical, minimal funk, ‘Era’ weaves a tight sci-fi web that’s guaranteed to take your floor to another planet.

Finally we hit ‘Una Mattina’. Flipping the triplet switch with euphoric glee, what begins as a rush-fuelled star-gazer soon drops us head-first into another devious, bass-bitten workout. Swaggering with an infectious confident groove, we’re bombarded with an array of precision synth shots, sweeps and stabs, each element adding a wealth of funk to the overall vibe.

Living up to their name in a major way, Teddy Killerz really are killing it with these four shock-outs. It’s time, once again, to get with the Program!

'Gully' is exactly that, gully. It’s an exercise in how to get a dancefloor moving, contorted bass, big stepping drums. Great for DJ’s and dancers - kept interesting and even changing its step at the very end of the track showing an attention to detail  sadly missing in this day and age.

Massl started DJing in 2006 inspired by the dark and heavy sounds of Noisia, Phace, Teebee and Calyx. Since this time he played over a hundred gigs in clubs in Germany and Austria. When he moved to Karlsruhe in 2007 he also arranged several successful parties. A few months later Massl realized that DJing was not enough which resulted in starting to produce own Drum and Bass tracks. He released tracks on known labels like Bad Taste and T!LT recordings.

Winter is coming as Icicle returns to the fore with his sophomore album, ‘Entropy’, released November 17th through Shogun Audio. Delivering his most developed and ferocious music to date, Icicle unleashes a tirade of bass weight, ready to blow the eyes and ears of the electronic music world into next year. Leaning from grime infested urban electronica through to emotionally charged trip hop and full on trademark sci-fi drum & bass, the resulting ‘Entropy’ is one of the most prime and compelling examples of hybrid dance music yet seen in 2014.

“My first album 'Under The Ice', was an attempt to showcase my influences and where I came from musically, it was in a sense retrospective. This new album is more of a look into what I think the future of this sound could be. The term ‘Entropy’ means a ‘state of disorder’ or 'measure of chaos' which I felt was a great metaphor for how my production style has evolved, diversified and developed over the years.

While the cinematic interludes lay out a path of ever increasing entropy, I've drawn in vocals from some of my favourite MC’s, Skittles, SP:MC and Foreign Beggars’ Metropolis alongside the very talented Sarah Hezen to join the dots between the energetic and the more musical moments. ‘Entropy' is a statement as to my personal progress in musicality and technique, and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.” Icicle
