After his highly successful ‘Pagans’ EP on V Recordings late last year, Need For Mirrors follows suit with his new offering, the ‘Slaves Of Empire’ EP. With a politically charged vocal hook and sub low bass, ‘Slaves Of Empire’ keeps the spirit of ‘Pagans’ but mutates it into something new. His experimental and innovative ways become even more obvious when moving through the other three tracks. All feature spoken word vocals and each hold a unique sound to accompany the ever-present NFM weight. The EP then moves from the heavy hitting techno influenced ‘Prayer Hands’ & ‘Common Sense’, to the glockenspiel stepper ‘Select’. It comes as no surprise that a glance at NFM’s catalogue reveals releases from the likes of Metalheadz, Symmetry, Playaz, Spearhead, Zoltar and more. With a constant string of boundary pushing production and dancefloor slammers, NFM has certainly carved a space for himself within the world of D&B.

Hibernating against an already impressively tight discography,
Program has been biding its time in unleashing this next release.
With some of the genre’s most technically adept artists, the track-
listing alone is enough to grab your attention. There is a high
calibre of production standard present throughout the LP, audible
from start to finish.
Whether you become submerged by Freek’s rolling ‘Enamoured’,
accompanied by the pristine vocals of Pia Thaleia, or captured by
the apocalyptic sounds of Slang Banger’s ‘Slaughter House’, every
taste is catered for. Program sets aside its older sister label Ram and creates a breathing space, allowing it
to grow. The label is a heavyweight in its own right; this album is only reaffirms that fact.
And such a range of versatility comes with names both old and new. L 33 returns to the imprint, with
clashing bass conundrum ‘Manipulate’. Gerra & Stone also make an anticipated reappearance; their
contribution ‘Po’rdosol’ is a steppy riddim constructed through a medley of beats and sliced up sample.
But relative newcomer Elliott Mac uses the LP as a pedestal for another stellar production. The budding
artist flexes his capabilities across the soundscape of ‘Filter City’, delicately composed yet highly intricate.
It’s demonstrative of Program’s dedication to emerging artists, sifting through cyberspace to showcase some
of the best acts the underground has to offer.
So now it’s time to prepare your subs and plug in your speakers – Program have made a welcome return,
further solidifying their position as leading tastemakers with a quality ensured guarantee. It’s once again,
time to get with the Program!

Hailing from Oklahoma, Josh Philpot isn't intimidated by deep dubstep sounds. Taking notes from oldskool sound system music, Repulsion delivers a hefty handful of bass with four tracks. "Easy On The Syrup" takes precedence, showing off Repulsion's ability to produce a track not only for parties, but dynamic enough to show the grit he is known for. "Agreement" holds classic sub bass and intricate percussion work near, perfect for many soundsystem watts. "Sector C" is another take on the "Agreement" sound, but is riddled with OG vocals from the first-person shooter, Half-Life, creating an apocalyptic sci-fi feel. Last but not least, "Seekers" will have you bouncing and stepping in the club, provided the sound system can handle it.
