It comes courtesy of the label’s very own J.Man. Signed exclusively in 2013, his agenda-setting remixes of undisputed Run Tingz classics –  ‘Rock A Dub’, ‘Junglist Ting and ‘Jungle Champion’ – have each scored prime position in the most discerning Drum & Bass Jungle selections. 

His debut original project with the label, ‘Road Block’ will build on his already impressive profile: complete with his signature Jungle drumming and instantly recognisable horn riffs (taken from The Aggravators ‘Rockers Almighty’) it’s the perfect complement to the impeccable lyrical talent of Doncaster’s most demonstrative vocalist Parly B. Currently enjoying support and props from the UK’s leading reggae ambassador David Rodigan, Parly’s emphatic sermons ensure instant explosions in the dance. Warm, melodic and wholly compatible with J.Man’s heavyweight groove, Parly’s vocals and J.Man’s sunshine sonics are a match made in Jungle heaven. 

It’s a road block on the remix front too. Straight out of their Bristol HQ, Run Tingz have invited exciting new West Country duo TerraHawk to the fray. Fresh from remixing Blak Twang’s ‘Rebel MC’ the duo have unleashed a firing jam that spits and sizzles with contemporary Drum & Bass fire. All rifling breakbeats, immense bass pressure and a drop sharp enough to shave, TerraHawk confirm their place as one of the most exciting new D&B acts to emerge in the last year. 

In an exciting new development for the label, the release offers added soundsystem gravitas in the form of Sleepy Time Ghost’s Reggae and Bass Music infusions. Bulbous bass bubbles and a smouldering kick-and-skank groove, Sleepy’s blessed the original with an array of deep space and authentic Jamaican promise. Their own club night, Blackout, celebrated it's ninth year anniversary in February 2012 and has seen guest appearances from some of the very best artists in drum & bass and dubstep including Goldie, Dom & Roland, Klute, Optical, Spor, Nero, and Bar 9. In 2011 and now onto 2012, Blackout goes on tour with guests and related artists from their three labels (BSE Recordings, oBSEsessions, Shadows of the Empire) and now has a highly successful residency in London at Cable.

The new Alone With Everybody project by Drum & Bass connoisseur FD firmly solidifies his earned seat in the upper echelons of the Drum & Bass scene. The epic nine-tracker on The North Quarter showcases a new dimension to his sound, having already gained the trust of many essential labels in the past. Serious work has been released over the course of years, producing a balanced catalogue of what FD stands for. This persistent output has grown in both reputation and depth and tells the story of a man dedicated to keeping close to his musical vision.

A veteran producer and DJ in the scene for more than a decade, FD has the ears of a true tastemaker; an artist and curator that understands his audience. Each piece of music has been created with his highly self-critical approach and scrutiny, bringing the best to the fore on this anticipated new body of work.

From the iconic intro with Jazz T, all the way to the closing track 'This Is Now' the EP speaks a solid sonic language with a confident yet emotion and energy-driven tone-of-voice. Welcoming back the creative force that is Joe Moses (Need For Mirrors), as he returns to V Recordings with a two track release unlike any other.

This grime inspired release brings together the cold elements of the respected genre together with the raw, rolling sound of drum and bass. The lead track ‘Tidal Wavey’ has been bubbling on the underground surface for the good part of a year, with the energetic vocal hook and sub low bass rattling the floors of Soul In Motion events across the country, this track has a life of its own and voice of a generation.

The dirt continues with ‘Knot’, a detuned DRS on vocals helps to take you into his world. Another stimulating fusion of cold eski-style synths with a pitch shifting, rumbling sub.

I gave this mix a different approach from the traditional DJing rules, and created a 55 minutes long story in Ableton.
I juggle from 2 up to 3 tracks simultaneously and when needed the pitch is changed to make them match in key.
Some basslines and synths out of tone in the mix process are fixed by changing their notes to flow in a new universe.
Almost everything is edited. Structures have been changed, some parts removed or replaced to create something that depicts my vision, and makes the whole experience harmonious.
Basslines, drum rolls and vocals have been taken from their original sources and positioned in different areas. I've also incorporated small extracts of tunes: intros, breakdowns or just few bars have been arranged all along in order to supplement a fresh introduction for the listener.
As i want to promote some of my favorite artists and friends with this mix, it was important for me to respect their work, and still manage to uphold and convey the essence of their productions.
With these mashups i intend to take you into a new, and hopefully noiiiiiice musical journey :3
