Hot on the heels of CY006 we have the latest quintet of past profanity and new nastiness. Unknown Precept’s Eindkrak serves up a grease dripping, ball bearing filled dish of “Shawarma.” After the entre comes a 90s treat. Kirlian Camera’s Angelo Bergamini’s side project with Celestino Pes under the name Andromeda Complex. Here the partnership offer the drums flailing beast that is “The Servant (Extract)”, tongue lolling, eyes bulging techno brutalism from 1994.  “4” sees GDL collide claps and low level bass line abuse as a thick haze gathers. On the flip. L.I.E.S. and Secret Studio scavengers, Circling Vultures are savagely “Feasting on the Caucus of the Fallen Divine King” before Bunker back row bully Klankman twists his knife into “The Servant”. Your latest dose of mean musical medicine has been served.

A new recruit has been drafted into the Broken Dreams ranks. Retrograde Youth, also known as Felipe Marín, takes up his position with four tracks of tooth and nail electronics. His style is ensconced in EBM, but trying to pin him down is near impossible. Guttural techno aches through the clang of metal and the rattle of rhythms, wave lances in with spiking synth lines as lost samples stalk. Music for scarred psyches that will leave hearts and minds raw.

Side A is a reissue of the highly sought after Disdain EP from 1988 by White House White. While it’s the most straightforward New Beat / EBM section of this Collected, Desaever’s sense of dramaturgy, his sound design, rhythmic patterns and use of film samples create a dark and mysterious ambiance at odds with the smiley atmosphere prevalent in most contemporary New Beat productions with infectious grooves focused on setting bodies in motion. 

On Side B, three previously unreleased tracks in a similar spirit to WHW’s sound with a dark and sleazy atmosphere, elegant arrangements that sound of an almost baroque persuasion, mysterious film samples and dance-inducing rhythmic sections that range from 104 to 108 BPM.

DIRK DESAEVER'S COLLECTED 1984 - 1989: A THREE FORMAT RELEASE ON MUSIQUE POUR LA DANSE.
Musique Pour La Danse is thrilled to present its latest “Collected” anthology, the label’s most ambitious release since it released an extensive anthology of music produced by New Beat pioneer Ro Maron back in 2015. 

This time label managers Olivier Ducret (Muriaux, CH) and Ed Isar (Paris, FR) have focused on another essential Belgian producer: Dirk Desaever, the man behind White House White, A Thunder Orchestra and Danton’s Voice. Rare and sought after, his records fetch high prices among collectors. Some of his productions under these aliases have appeared in crucial compilations such The Sound of Belgium series as well as Walhalla’s Underground Wave, along with edits by Mick Wills for Biorythm and Marcel Dettman for Dekmantel. 

What was initially supposed to be a simple reissue affair soon turned into a much wider project, as Desaever shared heaps of amazing unreleased material with the label. It seemed much more interesting to shed light on the dark side of this producer’s body of work, rather than to focus on content already reissued elsewhere. 

After listening to noisy tape rips over and over, Ducret & Isar opted to break this release down in three formats (EP, LP distributed via NEWS and a cassette sold by the label direct), each one with different content. They entrusted sound engineer Lorenzo Targhetta with remastering the music and it’s impressive how much he managed to polish the sound without altering the unmistakable grain of music committed to cassette tape.

Originally, Auren comes from downbeat, ambient and slow electronica background. He had to break his own rules in order to move into different music direction, what with the time becomes more and more unknown for himself. This reflects in Aurens debut album, where the boundaries between styles, genres, known and modern dissolve. Most of the tracks were recorded live during his sleepless jams at his studio in Vilnius, Lithuania.

A new compilation seeks to aid human rights organizations in Chile.

Valesuchi, Silent Servant, BADSISTA, Nicola Cruz, Verraco, Paula Tape, Julianna, Alessandro Adriani and Florian Kupfer are among the artists contributing material to the 51-track compilation, Despertar: Chile, out now on Bandcamp.

The South American country is currently experiencing intense political unrest as protestors mobilize against the country's extreme economic and social inequality under President Sebastián Piñera. Proceeds from Despertar: Chile will go towards institutions (none specified at this time) working on the ground in Chile.

The Bandcamp description, written by Buenos Aires-based artist f.a.n.g.o., provides more context.
"In October 2019, boosted by the new generations irreverence, millions of people [fought] for a life that's worthwhile to live. [P]resident Piñera's government replied with the only language they know to attend [to these] demands: repression. In different cities throughout the country, protesters are being killed, tortured and raped by the brutal police and military force, while the media hides the crimes of the state. [P]resident Piñera insists on the need of going back to 'normal,' but people don't accept this normality anymore.

We believe that in the crevices that music allows and in the international networks that are weaved around artistic creation, as it is in the extended protests around the globe, the pulse beats as a promise of a non-liberal existence, determined by solidarity and empathy. This compilation, that will allocate the funds raised to human rights institutions, voices this conviction and hopes that these recent events are only the starting point for a deep and unstoppable transformation."

Following the release of his first EP on Reach Another System and tracks amongst several well-respected artists on Worst Records and Artifical Horizon, Itako delivers here a new EP with a strong dystopic vibe. Themed around the words uttered by the father of the atomic bomb when he realized that the world would never be the same after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it is the perfect soundtrack for these uncertain times.

Blending harsh vocals and hard-hitting drums at a slowed-down tempo, 'Not Unique. Not Different' is clearly reminiscent of Itako’s passion for EBM and New Beat.

Sophie du Palais,  also known as Vrouwe Fataal, is a German vocalist and recording artist from Amsterdam. Sophie du Palais’ sound mixes elements of sinister and commanding vocals – reminiscent of Miss Kittin’ – to create an infectious vortex of panic.

After a night of experimenting in a studio and uploading her their first track on Soundcloud, Pinkman Records stumbled upon the profile. She released twice on the Rotterdam label, which is known for having a third ear out for the very finest sounds of tomorrow.

Sophie du Palais’ and Identified Patient’s haughty, somewhat punky track  ‘Crush On You’ caught fire with the burgeoning international crowd and her stony vocals similarly lined up with their Dekmantel release “The drip” a year later. 

A series of early productions on various artists compilations were scattered throughout 2020.

While dance floors were going wild from Sao Paolo to Moscow, Du Palais was finalizing her debut EP. This collection of clubby productions with new wave sensibilities will be released on BFE Records in Summer 2021.
