Almost a decade after its first release, Acid Youth returns on MFZ Records with the album "Darkness Is Not Easy".
This new work is the result of years of research and refinement in defining an aesthetic that merges the acid imagery with the song form and melody.

Alongside the usual suspects (808, 303, analog and digital synthesizers), new acoustic and electric elements (drums, guitar, bass) are introduced. The result of this mix is a personal reinterpretation of the sounds from the '90s alternative music scene.
The rhythmic precision of the synthetic elements guides melodic structures characterized by human imperfections. Fuzz guitars go with the acid lines of the 303, while drums mix up with the analog percussions of the 808.

The album’s tracks blend techno atmospheres, shoegaze moods, acid psychedelia and drone expansions.
"Darkness Is Not Easy" is a musical journey accessible to anyone who doesn’t particularly care about strict boundaries between musical genres; a path to be taken without preconceived notions or bias of any kind.

Machine Cult, the Amsterdam-based electronic music platform hosted by Déandrah and Garçon Taupe, returns with the release party for Edition Three at OT301 (Amsterdam) on 29th November.

Machine Cult’s upcoming edition will feature a V.A. compilation with tracks by Garçon Taupe (featuring Hunter Complex), Acidic Male, Loradeniz, Déandrah, and Son of Sesh. At the release party, each artist will perform a DJ set, except Déandrah, who will be creating live visuals throughout the night. Note that while Hunter Complex won’t be playing, Vergaarbak will be stepping in for a special b2b set with Garçon Taupe.

Expect a night of powerful electronic music and immersive visuals, celebrating the cutting edge of underground sounds.

On this long-awaited debut album Patricia Kokett continues his transcendent explorations. Built around a trip to the annual Nine Emperor Gods festival on the island of Phuket, Thailand, Bizarr is the sonic end result of an immersion into Thai ritual culture. The festivities and rituals of this so-called Vegetarian festival, which aim to give health and wisdom back to the community, inspired this beautiful, ecstatic collage of music, self-illuminating Kokett in the process. In this narrative of 6 long, stretched out songs, he conjures up an electrifying sense of catharsis and transcendence. Sophie du Palais,  also known as Vrouwe Fataal, is a German vocalist and recording artist from Amsterdam. Sophie du Palais’ sound mixes elements of sinister and commanding vocals – reminiscent of Miss Kittin’ – to create an infectious vortex of panic.

After a night of experimenting in a studio and uploading her their first track on Soundcloud, Pinkman Records stumbled upon the profile. She released twice on the Rotterdam label, which is known for having a third ear out for the very finest sounds of tomorrow.

Sophie du Palais’ and Identified Patient’s haughty, somewhat punky track  ‘Crush On You’ caught fire with the burgeoning international crowd and her stony vocals similarly lined up with their Dekmantel release “The drip” a year later. 

A series of early productions on various artists compilations were scattered throughout 2020.

While dance floors were going wild from Sao Paolo to Moscow, Du Palais was finalizing her debut EP. This collection of clubby productions with new wave sensibilities will be released on BFE Records in Summer 2021.
