Prologue:
Voodoo is alive and well in the world today both among the disenchanted and downtrodden as well as the educated elite. This volume sets out recent thinking on Voodoo, paying particular attention to variations in meanings and practices. It examines the way different people in different contexts are making sense of what voodoo is and what it might mean. The rhythms of Voodoo employ techniques completely unique to the style. The technique is employed as an embellishment on congas and is often referred to as a “Moose Call”. While the tone is very tricky to learn, it is even harder to do in the rapid succession which is required for some rhythms. Some Voodoo patterns stray quite far from the main rhythm, some create a counter pulse to it and others still remain fairly rooted.

Voodoo Hoodoo is a music label that specializes in dark psychedelic trance music, with an emphasis on ritualistic and otherworldly vibes. The label was founded in 2014 by a group of passionate music lovers and enthusiasts who were drawn to the dark, hypnotic sounds of Darkpsy. Intricate rhythms, and intense soundscapes that take listeners on a journey through the depths of their own consciousness.

Over the years, Voodoo Hoodoo has become a major player in the underground psychedelic trance scene, collaborating with some of the most innovative and cutting-edge artists in the industry. The label has released numerous albums, EPs, and compilations, each showcasing the best in dark psychedelic trance music.

One of the key features of Voodoo Hoodoo's music is its focus on ritual and mystical themes. The label's artists draw inspiration from various spiritual and mystical traditions, incorporating elements of shamanism, voodoo, and other esoteric practices into their music. This gives VDHD's music a unique and powerful energy that is sure to leave a lasting impression on anyone who experiences it.

Despite its underground status, VDHD has gained a loyal following of fans who appreciate its uncompromising commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in psychedelic trance music. The word "hoodoo" is classified as the practice of voodoo. "I hoodoo you"... with a sonic potion that causes healing, a parapsychological power, getting access to supernatural forces thru full power shamanic dance. This one is for the Voodoo People.

In Indian mythology, Ratri is a Vedic goddess who is the personification of the night, just before dawn. She protects her worshippers from wolves and demons, safely guiding them through the darkness...

She has been involved in electronic music for over a decade. The initial currents around which she revolved were minimal, techno and dark techno. In 2014, when she first came to a psychedelic trance party, she fell in love with it and psychedelia stole her heart. She has always loved darkness, which is why such genres as darkpsy, hitech and psycore carried her away on the dance floor. After a time of high-flying, she craved a change and decided to try her hand behind the console.

In 2018, she started her DJ adventure by attending a DJ camp. On New Year’s Eve 2018/2019, she made her debut with the Morphogenesis crew in Wrocław, with whom she spread her wings. She represented Morfo Crew until 2022. She is currently associated with Be Psychedelic from Tricity www.bepsychedelic.org.

After four years of DJing, she opened up to slower music, i.e. zenonesque. As she says, her life has slowed down – the pace of playing has slowed down. However, it does not mean she does not love to fire the audience up to over 200 bpm with psycore twisted sounds!

Zenonesque, darkpsy, hitech, psycore – she creates her sets around these genres. Ratri pays much attention to the selection of tracks as every track has to be a real HIT! She will take you on an intergalactic journey during her sets, which she interweaves with unusual vocals.

No matter how deep the darkness she takes you into, she will guide you through it safely...
