We could simply stick to these words that Jay himself used on his Bandcamp profile, but it feels also right to describe an artist that, for over three decades has been able to deliver some real dancefloor heaters. The Canadian pioneer is indeed responsible for hundreds of deadly house, techno, minimal, electro, and deep records, some of which have become legendary like his Mr_Barcode alias, which is about to be re-visited with two interpretations by Ricardo Villalobos himself. We’re pleased to have him again on our channel with quite a long session, as Jay delivers almost 2 and half hours of straight deep flavor, starting with trippy minimal rhythms that gradually give way to more outer space techno and electro affair, for the ultimate Tripwire experience.

In the digital age, the compilation has lost much of it’s former glory. Not too long ago it was an indespensable format for the music-lover. Was it brilliantly compiled and telling a special story, the compilation was a significant gain as a particularly successful artist album. 

In recent times, the compilation has been cheapened with generic ’Ibiza’ and ’Miami’ labelling as the genre compilation all but dissapeared from the scene. 

This brought DJ T. to an idea, to create an homage to this nearly extinct format. As vol. 1 of the project is supposed to be a highly visible counterpoint to the ubiquitous, mostly House and Techno-stocked season sets and theme compilations, his choice fell on Disco; one of the oldest species in club music. Disco is currently experiencing a sort of rennaissance, with many young, and until recently, completely unknown artists and labels carrying the heritage on by working with new and contemporary definitions. 

Naturally limited by the selection of works available digitally, DJ T. chose a very personal array of 43 tracks to give the connoisseur an overview of the newest branches in the Disco-tree and to cover as many diverse genres the last three decades have seen. 

As the ’cherry on top’, the compilation contains a handfull of exclusive and unreleased tracks, including two new edits of the old DJ T. classics ’Philly’ &amp; ’Funk On You’. Catz ’N Dogz appear with a remix of ’Dis’, the big hit of his second album. DJ T. also put his hands on one of his favourite classics ’Around The House’, one of the early works of the Hamburg-Disco-King Tensnake. In addition there are two unreleased tracks from the two mexican artists Robbie Akabal &amp; Muan and Damian Uzabiaga.

I was envisioning playing these tracks in Shambhala's infamous Living Room. This mix literally features music from some of my favorite artists and labels. The DSF track in particular is one to look out for, as it's the only one featured in this mix that is unreleased. It scorches the dance floor every time I play it and will definitely be a BIG Summer track. Needless to say, I'm looking profoundly forward to experiencing Shambhala, as BC is one of the most beautiful places to be in the Summer and I've heard nothing but praise for Shambhala. This was my third Burn and by far the best one I've experienced. My set at Robot Heart kicked off the proceedings on Sunday morning after the man burn and set the tone for Adana Twins, Swamy and RÜFÜS DU SOL who took it up a few notches until sunrise and beyond. You can hear some special re-edits and unreleased tracks in my set that I made especially for the playa, one of the best testing grounds for any producer! It’s always a pleasure to play for the Robot Heart team whom I’ve known for many years and to be invited to perform the past 2 years has been a real honour and I hope many more are to come!

If you're familiar with the minimal movement, with captivating basslines, with techy grooves and progressive-ish atmospheres, you can't not know the NTFO. The Timisoara-based duo has totally shaped the current sound, adding to the classic minimalistic groove structure a good dose of pulsating basslines, emotional synths and easy-to-dance-to elements. Over the last 10 years or so, they've released loads of beauties on labels such as PIV, Bondage, AdMaiora, Organic, Djebali and their own Sintope, which has rapidly become the perfect home base to showcase the "NTFO" sound.
