Alessandro Cortini is an Italian musician, producer, composer, and instrument builder. 

Cortini is one of the foremost figures of contemporary electronic music, best known for his haunting, atmospheric work. Alongside being a longstanding member of Nine Inch Nails, he is highly prolific and has released a steady stream of his own heady music on luminary labels including Mute, Hospital, and Important Records for the past decade. Throughout his shadowy rise to fame, he has collaborated with the likes of Lawrence English, Daniel Avery and Merzbow (to name a few). Balancing dark ambience with smokey, pulsing rhythms, his compositions are perfectly restrained, textured and mesmeric. 

Cortini was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 through his work with Nine Inch Nails, making history as the only Italian musician to have ever been honored with this recognition. 

In 2021, in collaboration with boutique synth builders Make Noise, Cortini released his own, custom-designed, semi-modular synth, “Strega” (Italian for ‘witch’). That same year, he used Strega to build his latest full length, Scuro Chiaro [Mute], which Pitchfork described as “pitched somewhere between purgatory and the planetarium ... consistently managing to thrill and surprise”. 

In addition to years of extensive worldwide touring, Cortini has also soundtracked fashion shows including Alexander McQueen, Dior, and several of Fendi’s presentations. In 2022, he exhibited a high-concept audio installation called “Nati Infiniti” for Sonar 2022 at Museu de Lisboa’s “Fábrica de Moagem.” A live version of “Nati Infiniti” is set to debut at Berlin Atonal in 2023.

Alessandro Cortini’s music has been licensed for use in television, film and documentaries, games, and commercials, including FX’s hit show The Bear, “Thank You Very Much” a documentary about Andy Kaufman, Samsung, BMW, Sony, and Netflix. Remixes have also been a part of Cortini’s identity – remixing the likes of Depeche Mode to Mogwai to Death Cab For Cutie, Yann Tiersen to Vatican Shadow, and more between and beyond.

Led by Perth based bandleader and composer Brendan Scott Grey, Premiss’ self-titled debut EP is a strikingly unconventional artistic venture where the union of music needing to be voiced and the stories to make sense of it all come together. 

Using an impressive eight piece band as its medium, compositions were approached with the desire to utilise the raw and imperfect sounds of a live band within the genre of Australian hip-hop. All tracks were musically written in their entirety and then presented to a selection of Perth’s finest MC's to say whatever they wanted to say. There was no editing, instruction, boundaries or censorship. The story that came to the MC's first was the one recorded; the one allowed to live in that moment. 

Clocking in at nine tracks, the Premiss EP features the exceptional word-smithery of Coin Banks, Drapht, Marksman Lloyd, Alex Ford, Hyclassand Macshane. This melting pot of styles and stories is testament to the variety of talent found amongst both the emerging and established artists in Perth’s burgeoning hip-hop community. Current single ‘Let You Know’ featuring Coin Banks and Marksman Lloyd has already received the thumbs up from Hau on triple j’s The Hip Hop Show and is doing the rounds at radio across the country.

While now releasing in their own right, Brendan and his Premiss cohorts have in one form or another appeared on numerous recordings such as Coin Banks’ double EP 'Heads and Tails' and Drapht’s latest album 'Seven Mirrors'. Not to mention chalking up performances at Groovin’ The Moo, Perth International Arts Festival, WAM Festival, Rottofest, Hyperfest, Music Matters (Singapore) and even joining forces with The West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra. In September just gone Brendan again joined Drapht and co. at triple j's Like A Version for an excellent rendition of The Avalanche's 'Frankie Sinatra'.

Ed Neumeister has composed for classical and jazz ensembles in the US, Europe, South America, Australia and Israel and performed extensively as a trombone soloist throughout the World. As a leader, Neumeister has recorded twelve albums, ranging from large ensembles to small groups to solo trombone. Neumeister’s arrangement for the Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra of “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1992. He recorded multiple albums in Europe, leading large ensembles and small bands; he composed for various jazz ensembles, plus classical chamber pieces and large-scale concert works. 

Neumeister has recently established a new jazz orchestra in New York, the diverse, multi-generational Assembláge, which is the third such large group of his career. Ed Neumeister received a 2020 Composer Fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
