Vytal first became a follower of Christ in the summer of 2002. Although just a child at the time, he was aware of his disconnection to God and knew that he did not want to continue to live without being in right standing with Him. Shortly after beginning this journey with Jesus, he began to make Christian hip hop music. It was then that he began using the moniker, Vytal MC. The definition of the word vital is ‘necessary for the continuation of life.' He chose the name Vytal MC because his artistic approach always incorporates the message of the Gospel, which is the foundational truth that one cannot live without. Starting in high school, Vytal began doing street evangelism and performing music in schools, churches, and other community events.

In an effort to promote literacy in hip-hop culture, Vytal has launched a campaign to pair his music with literature. His newest album, Grace Plus Truth, has a companion book titled Grace Plus Truth: How to Walk in Faith and Freedom by Exploring the Last Adam’s Impact on Salvation, Holiness, and the Christian Life.
