Long Night

In February of 2022, as Storm Eunice worked its way across the UK, two people, namely Greig Baird and his partner Susie Baird set out for a rare weekend away on the North Coast of Devon. The weather was rough, but life affirming. The North Devon coast spectacular and dramatic; made more so by the waning storm.

This collection is a set of sonified memories; moments in a particular location at a particular time. A creative recalling. A set of sound postcards if you will.

'Mist Rapt' - A Weather Internal - [Fluid Audio, 2023]

Tilwin (meaning 'colouring' in Maltese, Robert's native tongue) started being written during the summer of 2023 and was concluded on the last day of that year. The album reflects some major life events Robert encountered throughout that same year. Tilwin is an attempt at embracing a period of lows and highs, an effort of encapsulating these experiences within recordings. Each event described here is coloured in Robert's mind by a 'hue', that was then reflected in each track forming the album. Tilwin depicts events as varied as a tragic incident endured by a loved one and their period of convalescence, as can be heard on the song 'Long Wait', to the birth of a new family member on the Christmas day, as can be heard on the song 'Post Christmas'. Hence the album name: Tilwin.

Long Wait

The title of this album is derived from the concept of poetry according to William Wordsworth, who described it as nothing more than an "emotion recollected in tranquility." Tinkling, soft, vibrant sounds and granular synthesis predominate the compositions in "recollected in tranquility". Together with field recordings captured in nature, these sounds weave serene and meditative soundscapes. The author's intent is to transport the listener to a state of utmost peace while captivating their ear with a tapestry of pulsating and organic sounds. The tunes and tones unfolding in these seven tracks paint an imagery of a delicate blossoming of springtime and whisper of floral nostalgia.
