The light and dark, the fast and slow, the loud and quiet - one cannot exist without the other and opposing qualities, in balance, each bring out the best in life - and often also in music. Berlin-based artist Mareena embodies this interplay perfectly. May it be through her well-built Techno DJ Sets in Clubs all over the world or as Podcast host and Label Owner of the always calming and ever-giving UNRUSH series - Mareena understood the integration of this dualism like few other artists nowadays. A catch-up between Delayed and her was long overdue and our discussion expanded from the 90’ies, over timeless music to the challenges of the life of an artist these days.

This is what Mareena said about the mix:
'I had a lot of ideas for a calm mix. I ended up with a dub techno mix. A genre that is sticking with me since my beginnings. I can't get tired of chords and delays. Since your platform is called “Delayed” it seemed just appropriate ;) The mix is recorded between 115 – 120 BPM. I wanted to create something more chill. A mix you listen to while cooking, having friends over or wandering around the streets. My idea was a deeper psychedelic vibe rather than the usual dance floor music.'

"When I picked records and songs for this mix I wanted to include a lot of tracks that are timeless and not trendy. Important tracks are in my arsenal of music. I don’t own CDJs so I did the mix on my 1200s. These songs kind of reflect the epitome of the sound in an underground party, from any era. I ended the mix with an old Get F*cked track, because I love that record, and it's perfect for closing out a party or a mix. Nathan Coles and I have been homies for over 20 years. I recorded the mix a few weeks before passed and it makes the mix mean something more to me than just doing a cool DJ mix. RIP Nathan Coles, I always share the gifts you gave us in the form of music, and you will live on thru the hundreds of songs."

A unique blend from Spclnch’s secret music library is the work of Andrey Pushkarev.

In addition to various discoveries, the artefacts closet is filled with vinyl records, an impressive collection of which are also displayed along the whole wall. There is also a wide selection on the shelves behind the shoulders of these experienced diggers, literally and figuratively. It is for this reason that the habit of handling music well is formed. An example of such a skill was the respect paid by guests with particular accents. Of course, some guests are old but gold: the DP-6 duo, sophisticated by experience, accurately constructs sound textures, maestro Basicnoise again extracts tactile forms of dub techno, and Federsen shows exactness and attention to the details of the genre.

Edward's second album has just dropped via Giegling and has been met with critical acclaim for its constantly-changing direction and refreshingly hypnotic production. Offermann too is edging closer to releasing his second album, which should drop next year, and after his stellar 2012 debut in the form of 'Do Pilots Still Dream Of Flying?', we're suitably excited.

The two often play together and always bring a melancholic, warped and wholly-unique take on dance music. Seamlessly drifting between floaty, groove-fuelled house and intriguing side-winding techno, every set is completely different yet always the same.

We're thrilled to have the two compile an In Session mix for us and this is one of the most inventive hours we've ever received. Tracks by the illusive Prince of Denmark, Dj Qu and of course some off-kilter cuts will delve you deep into the pair's vision. Exceptional stuff.

Bio:
Tom was born on October 24, 1979 in Sonneberg. At the age of 16 he discovered his love for electronic music. At that time he was inspired by music sets of Richie Hawtin, Sven Väth, Karotte and many other artists.He also had a big interest in spinning records.

Tom began to create Mixes... He put on records in many reputable locations in his homeland and at numerous radio stations like Sputnik Radio for example. He convinced lots of parties with his ingenious DJ Skills and also wants to convince you.

Soela is the DJ and production alias of Elina Shorokhova, a Russia-born Berlin-based experienced pianist and vocalist who has made a hugely successful transition into electronic music. 
She released her material on such labels as Kompakt, Dial, Shall Not Fade, Lost Palms, E-Beamz, Red Ember Records, Sushitech, and others. With a style that combines house, dub techno, and experimental electronica, Soela is creating versatile tracks and mixes, and collaborating with artists such as Christopher Ledger, Steve O’Sullivan, and Module One.

Sohrab Karimi aka Ahu https://soundcloud.com/ahu_sohrab is a producer born in Tehran, Iran, living in Berlin nowadays. Ahu is one of the few artists who prefer to adopt low profile, with little to almost no information about him, beside his music.

Ahu’s signature sound is almost impossible to capture into words: introspective blue, sometimes with a Giegling feeling, other times with deep & dubby references to the minimal house scene, yet always authentic and promiscuous.

Little do we know about https://soundcloud.com/shahr-farang nor https://soundcloud.com/kolonygorky, Ahu’s record labels and homes for much of his releases. The labels reflect his vision about the electronic music, with ambient soundscapes, experimental concepts and sometimes dancefloor oriented cuts.

Somewhere in 2017 Ahu accepted our invitation to contribute to the Introspections series with a mix built with his own productions. To this date, it remanis one of the most beautiful mixes we’ve ever hosted.

ALESSANDRO Crimi is undoubtedly our kind of man. Because whether producing, running the imperious vinyl-only boutique label Waehlscheibe or DJing, especially DJing, the Austrian-born, Swiss-raised artist always brings that elusive deepness that can only be felt, never faked, to the [turn] table.

Having grown up with a love of, amongst others, Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode records gleaned from his parents’ collection, piano lessons eventually made way for experimentation with electronic gear and led almost inevitably to his production debut in the early noughties. Now a seasoned artist with quality releases on the likes of Italic, Open Recordings and Agnès’ Sthlmaudio Recordings to his name, Crimi the artist became Crimi the label boss too in 2012 with the launch of Waehlscheibe [check out here: https://waehlscheibe.bandcamp.com], a welcoming home to such deep-leaning names as Dubbyman, Marco Nega, P. Laoss and, of course, the man himself. 

But it is behind the decks that you feel Crimi is perhaps most at home. So we were beyond stoked when he agreed to put together number three in our podcast series, a blissful hour plus of proper, grown-up deep electronic business.
