TM Shuffle is more than just a name in the international dub techno scene. The Finnish producer, DJ, and head of VUO Records has a rare talent for distilling the essence of depth, space, and rhythm into his productions. His music is infused with a hypnotic pulse that doesn’t shout loudly but tells stories subtly – of snow-covered landscapes, quiet nights, and an unwavering love for electronic music. What sets TM Shuffle apart is his uncompromising dedication to reduction. His musical philosophy is not about quantity but quality: less is more. By deliberately limiting himself, he becomes more creative – digging deep, searching intentionally for the right sound, and developing a distinct musical signature. This principle is evident not only in his productions but also in his thoughtfully crafted, driving DJ sets.

He shares this passion off stage as well: as the label head of VUO Records, he provides a platform for other artists who share his vision of dub techno – raw, organic, and timeless.

In a personal conversation with Andre Kronert, TM Shuffle offers insight into his creative workflow and studio philosophy. In a world of unlimited possibilities, he consciously relies on a minimalist setup: turntables, a mixer, a few select synthesizers, drum machines, and a computer for sequencing. Whether in the studio or on stage, analog or digital – Richard employs a hybrid setup of hardware, software, vinyl, and digital tools, offering him maximum creative freedom. His DJ sets and productions are marked by precise dramaturgy and a deep understanding of sonic architecture. F4TMusic unleashes the next sonic offering from Amsterdam-based producer Sonn Ten with "Altered Forms EP" (F4T20). Fresh off the stage setting "Evoke EP", Sonn Ten channels here his live performance prowess into a collection that's all about progression and transformation.

Kicking off with the visions of "Fuery", it is yet the resolute "Caverns" that sets the definitive pace for this 4+1 trip of an EP. Seeking perfection in "Mutants", the dutch producer injects with haunting, assertive samples over throbbing, signature bassline. Then deliverance comes with the mighty "Resonant" and its gripping build up, making for a move few will see coming.

Closing (free) tune "Ethics" strips back to bare-bones introspection, probing the moral edges of work-life balance for everyone to get acquainted with Sonn Ten's character.

2020 is finally coming to an end.. what better chance to use December as a month to reflect on what’s going on in the world and what we learned from it? “What do I have to do to get rid of my anxiety about the future?” is one of the questions which kept the artist behind this year’s December podcast - Soela - busy for quite a while.

Soela is a multi-talented artist hailing from southern Russia who now calls Berlin her home. It is there where she continues to build her presence in the community through her live and DJ sets alongside documenting the local scene and artists through her lens as a photographer. She is an experienced pianist and vocalist who has made a hugely successful transition into electronic music.

Since she took her first footsteps into electronic music, she’s come a long way. In the meantime she produced and released her own music on renowned labels like Detroit Underground, Fauxpas Musik, Shall Not Fade and KOMPAKT. Her productions entail all her musical background knowledge and are hard to put in a box, ranging from downtempo to deep house to techno.

  For Loser Records, Soela crafted this mix from all the tracks she was collecting over the year and even included some of her own productions. Her intention was to summarise all of her feelings and combine them into an one hour long mix of music that she personally loves and listens to extensively.  

To put it into her own words: “I think music from such artists as Efdemin, Leon Vynehall, Hotel Nota, Leafar Legov, and others perfectly reflects my thoughts right now. A bit of melancholy, but still a lot of appreciation to people and this beautiful world, even in such tough times. “

  We could not think of any better way to end this year’s podcast series and say thank you Soela for this wonderful mix and wish you all the best for your future career, once the pandemic has settled.
