Today, we're excited to spotlight a release & track that does just that. Hailing from Glasgow, the label Bricolage recently started working closer with us, and in their next iteration, the label have offered some more musical craftsmanship from the talented Wilks, in the form of his latest EP, "Left Hand Drive".

Eclectic current – Continually falling forward

Halfmachine is the Rotterdam-based darkwave project of guitarist Joris Telgen (ex-SONNDR) and DJ, producer, and film composer Diether Eichler (Eichler Brothers, The Eerier Child). As Halfmachine, the duo bring their diverse musical backgrounds together in a darkwave sound that can best be described as electronic post-punk with an ‘industrial’ edge.

Analogue equipment plays almost as big a role here as the men behind the controls. With two analogue synthesizers, a drum machine, and a guitar, they laid the foundation for their first track "Halfmachine".

Halfmachine bridges the past and present by combining this minimalist sound palette of the eighties with modern recording techniques. They are inspired by bands such as Suicide, Section 25, DAF, and Chrome, but also by gritty Greek darkwave and synthesizer pioneer Suzanne Ciani.

In our overstrained, 'infocalyptic' society, the raw but cinematic darkwave of Halfmachine is a musical response to the concrete blocks of brutalism, Paul Verhoeven’s visions of the future, and the extra-human proportions of an industrial port city.
