Pieces Of Me

This began as a lucid dream. I was so inspired by it that I wanted to write it out. As I wrote, it turned into a poem. Later it called to me to add music and sounds (Garageband) to enhance the memory of it and maybe share it with others. The song I included in the background is called, "Trance Chant" - something I wrote back in 2005 while experimenting with dropping the lyric approach and just creating vocal sounds over textures and music.

I dreamt that I was running full speed
Fully present
Not thinking
And in my exuberance
I was completely unaware of the rift -
The edge of humanity's 3-D cliff

The thoughts one has while mid-air
Fascinating
From, "I think I'm supposed to be afraid of these heights!"
To, "Oh my god, this is the most fun I've had yet!"
And then, "Oh man this is bound to be a messy death."

So in my free-fall flight
I apologized to the honorable crew below
Who must eventually find
and scrape all the bits of me off
My final ending spot
The women gathered 'round as I screamed,
My back! My back! Oh the agony, the pain!

They giggled
They winked
And so sweetly explained
Make all the noise you want
You know it doesn't work that way
The Earth had caught me
In her deep green forest floor
A spongy undercoat that anyone
From the cliff above if they really knew
Would forever love to die
And rest upon a final kind of freedom
From the barren rocky grooves
The ones that I popped out of
Studied objectively for a time
Then dropped off by way of sudden edge

I kept reflecting on this past
Yet simultaneous view
While staring at the tiny rocks above
I was fully aware that it still existed
But somehow I was here
Maybe dead?
I couldn't tell
Why bother to describe?
My heart was breathing
Sighing
Never feeling more alive!

They were still waiting for me
The ladies with their golden calm
Until I finally realized
That there was no need to die
To find the truth

It was the women who helped me up
And began to re-teach me their ways
Which was our way
How to help the ones who will follow me
To the Earth's natural floor
Into the arms of our Mother's Grace
Where all things real await

The ladies told me that some take more time than others
Because for one
They still think time exists
And it's hard to let go of the old idea
That they are less-than
And afraid
And dead
And that they must fight
And suffer
And kill
And lie
And swear
Again and again
Because this is how it's always been
A struggle
An unreachable goal to own
What is naturally within

In the end
They took me to Gaia's kitchen
And began to show me how to prepare the food
That would soothe these broken souls
When they finally fall out of sync
Out of time with all that is unreal
Words and poetry cannot describe
How fulfilling it was
To remember the simplicity
The community
The love
The healing that awaits
When we finally let go and fall
Into the arms of our Mother's Grace

The Divine or Sacred Feminine has been coming through me in so many ways over the years. Sometimes I feel that I am just beginning to understand this music and these messages. It's a blessing.

the distance 
to their own hearts

This was one of the first-rendition productions of "Almost Time" from the 2nd CD, All in One Day, written as a song in 1997-ish? Wow. I contemplated suicide a few times back then. Why? Because this Divine Love was waking up, expanding, and informing me, from within. Friends thought I was crazy. A Christian minister said it was the devil. At the time, I found no mirroring of this Love in my outer world. My life continued to be a mission to reconcile this distance between who I thought I was and what this Love was showing me – about who I am, who we all are.

The original poem in my 1991 journal was inspired by a real-life experience of feeling very heavy while walking out of work one night (well-known, large defense company in San Diego) and the sunset sky was so beautiful I dropped my things, eyes fixated on the gorgeous sky, and wept. The Love filled me, deeply changed me, showed me my purpose, showed me how afraid people might be as we head for "Home," yet it filled me with hope in the huge awakening times to come... Yes, this all happened in a parking lot. I recall being completely alone, surrounded by a sea of parked cars. Seems odd, since it was one of the largest employers in SD at the time, but that's how my life was back then. (Image: Rassouli.com)

Too honest
Too open
Too present
Too much
Off road
Off world
Off script
SHE doesn’t fit
Into the world you know
She fills the rift
Right under your nose
Your skin
Your grip
On all that you were sold
In this fragmented trick

She sees the lies
She’s wise to the game
When woman is woke
They know
She’s not a brain
She’s the eye
She’s whole
And this they cannot control
So she must GO! They say

But no

This time SHE stays

Her Truth
Like a virus
Is triggered inside
To wholly reclaim
And synchronize
The healing of Earth

I wrote and recorded this song in Garageband following a particularly powerful season of forgiveness in my life. I wrote it for my siblings... after everything changed in our lives, we did the best we could on our own. Love you Dan. Rest in Peace.
