I've always really connected with some of Shostakovich's chamber works, especially some of the more jarring, pissed off movements from his string quartets. Just really hit that sweet spot for me of being expressive, idiosyncratic, with lots of individual personality. Anyway this composition is very much inspired by that style. Not the first or last time I've written something inspired by his general "vibe." Hope you enjoy!

I teach in US higher education (in a STEM field) & am a hobbyist composer writing in a few different styles. I recommend headphones. All of my music is released under a Creative Commons Attribution/Noncommercial license.
