One of the most anticipated releases for some time, we are proud to bring you the debut recordings from young Auckland, New Zealand duo Tokyo Prose. Discovered very early in their careers by DJ Presha, the two Sam’s were signed to Samurai Red Seal as core artists in a long term development deal. It has taken a few years to get to the point where we have this release ready, but as you will hear the wait has been worth it. ‘Introducing Tokyo Prose’ brings stylish swagger and musical substance to a scene overflowing with identical bare boned rollers. Gliding between minimal ambience and deep soulful steppers, these gifted young men aptly display their knack for sample selection and unique groove building. DJ support has been consistent from names like Calibre, S.P.Y, Bryan G, London Elektricity, Spectrasoul, Lenzman, Total Science, Blu Mar Ten, Loxy, Random Movement, Lynx, Presha, Sinistarr and many more.

As summer begins to dwindle and the days become shorter, it’s nice to know that there are still some tunes coming through that will bring a bit of sunshine into your life. Take Roy Green & Protone’s forthcoming EP release, “Jazzypansts”, as one fine example, and coincidentally the next release from the Innerground camp.

Next up is the title track “Jazzypants”. Featuring the strong and unmistakeable sound of an upright bass strung in amongst some staccato beats and a minimal overall sound, this is a quintessential dancefloor killer.

The Jazzypants EP will be available as a three track EP download exclusively from Juno Download from the 6th October.

This year Hospital Records announced an unexpected addition to their roster, Brazilian-born Urbandawn.

Previously unknown in the spheres of drum & bass yet has shone through with his melodic and soulful drum & bass that’s polished to perfection. Following his well-received debut single “Neon Nights” is the charming “Cloudless” EP - four tracks encompassing every element of Urbandawn from his sweet-natured, warming tones to high-energy dance-floor impacts.

Title-track “Cloudless’ is the result of an unexpected session in London Elektricity’s south-east London home-studio. Expect an instantly inviting vocal-lead arrangement performed by “Just One Second” singer Elsa Esmeralda who compliments the instrumental qualities with a beautiful, harmonic performance.

Adding another string to his bow is an unorthodox title for an unorthodox track. Screaming for the dance is Urbandawn’s ‘Pavlov’s Dog’ that uses unconventional arrangements and unusual sounds in an effort to make noise against the rising glamorization and formulaic predictability of “EDM culture”. Jazz inspired piano chords lead the way over fierce beats in “Under Your Sheets” followed by a call back to the summer months with “Vona”.
