The Anthem

When Legpuppy asked if I fancied remixing another of their tracks, I jumped at the chance.  Out came my dusty guitars, the old bass and well, this is what happened.  Punk? Rock? Dance? Pop? I have no idea what you call these three and a half minutes…but wow, were they fun to put together and I still feel somewhat breathless by the end.

Beyond Your Open Mind

This track was originally composed as a piano solo, with each section being a remnant of the initial theme.  Eventually, it was expanded to include full orchestra at various sections.  "Remnants" was inspired by the idea that we are made up of memories, and these remnants are what we carry with us into the present and future, there to be called upon as needed.  I chose the cover photo because, like memories, it's varied in color and texture, but the result is the beautiful creation of the whole.

This is ‘Millgrove in Winter’ - a little song I wrote recently between various collaborations. While it gets pretty chilly up here in the hills, it also brings a different kind of beauty you don’t get from the warmer months. Should be on Spotify et al pretty soon. Enjoy 💚

Here's a song about an army of corn marching on a town at midnight. (Hey, these things happen in Wisconsin.)
Main guitars on this are a Vintage Modified Stratocaster and a Gretsch 5622T. The combination of the classic Strat tone and the Gretsch's Super HiLotron pickups is a recipe I personally love.
A single from the upcoming Penelope's Thrill album, "Twilight on Tunnel Road," due out on April 26, 2021.
All the songs on "Twilight on Tunnel Road" are about Lonnie and Chloe, who grow up on adjacent farms on the edge of the Driftless Area of Southern Wisconsin. This song is about Chloe's recurring dream of a vast army of corn marching at midnight toward the town. Ever since she was a child, Chloe has dreamed about the billowing ocean of corn covering the undulating hills around their farmhouse--the tall, thick stalks that towered above her head with leaves that looked like arms. The way the corn swayed in the wind made the stalks seem like people, like an orderly crowd of people standing in rows, or--by moonlight--a vast army. She dreamed about this corn army, sometimes imagining herself their queen. When she grew older, she would joke with Lonnie about this. Lonnie would call her Queen of the Corn and refer to cornfields as her troops.

A full time, freelance children's book illustrator, introduced to Magix music making software in January 2014.  Haven't been near music production since school about a hundred years ago.  Can't play a note, and sing like a drain unblocking - Hence any music I may eventually have the nerve to upload is all created using midi/vst instruments playing compositions created in the piano roll editor.   The Magix forum dedicated to music production is the only place to suffer my creations so far.  Didn't realise it could be so much fun though.  Woohoo.
