The band Arandu Arakuaa (“Knowlege of the cycles of heaven” or “Wisdom of the cosmos” in Tupi-Guarani language), was created in April 2008 when Zândhio Aquino began writing songs with lyrics in Ancient Tupi language. The band is currently composed by Nájila Cristina (Vocals/Maracá), Zândhio Aquino (Guitars/Viola Caipira/Vocals/Keyboard/Indigenous instruments), Saulo Lucena (Bass/Back Vocals/Maracá) and Adriano Ferreira (Drums/Percussion).

The band's musicality merges aspects of Heavy Metal, indigenous music and Brazilian folk music with lyrics in the indigenous languages Tupi, Xerente and Xavante, inspired by the legends, rituals and struggles of Indigenous Peoples from Brazil, aiming to contribute to the dissemination and appreciation of their cultures, underestimated over the centuries.

The use of the viola caipira enhances the Brazilianness even further in the sound of Arandu Arakuaa. Zândhio uses a guitar-viola, an instrument designed by the musician himself.

In August 2011 the band performed live for the first time, and since then promotes a 100% authoral repertoire.  The band had an early EP called “Arandu Arakuaa” released in 2012 and two Full-Lenght albums: “Kó Yby Oré“ – 2013,  “Wdê Nnãkrda” – 2015, three music videos and two lyric videos. So far the band have performed at festivals such as Agosto de Rock (TO); Femme Festival (GO); Ferrock (DF); Porão do Rock (DF), THORHAMMERFEST(SP) and World Forum of Human Rights.

Desta maneira, buscando contribuir para a divulgação e valorização de suas manifestações culturais, subestimadas durante os séculos. 

O uso da viola caipira realça ainda mais a brasilidade na sonoridade do Arandu Arakuaa. Zândhio usa uma guitarra viola, instrumento idealizado pelo próprio músico.

Em agosto de 2011, a banda fez o seu primeiro show e, desde então, divulga o seu trabalho com um repertório 100% autoral.
